CONSTITUTION:A motor stopping mechanism is constituted of a motor, a cam 5a, a level 12 and a spring 9. Power of the motor is transmitted to a gear train by rotating the motor by its inertial energy when the motor power supply is interrupted. Then in the cam 5a synchronized with timing pulses of a gear in the gear train, a lever 12, whose one end is biased by the spring 9 and the other end is moved on the circumference of the cam 5a, is arranged. The lever 12 is rotatably supported to rotate in both directions around a shaft. When a lever 12A tends to move over a protrusive part of the cam 5a, the spring starts to extend. The resilience energy of the spring 9 put a load to the cam 5a in the direction opposite to the rotation of the cam of the spring 9, causing a cam gear 5 to stop. Thus the rotation of the motor 1 is stopped within a predetermined range.

After that, a type wheel shaft 1 starts on rotation in the direction marked with an arrow E, and a type wheel spring 5 is engaged again with a groove 101 of the type wheel shaft 1, making the type wheel shaft 1 and a type wheel 2 rotate as a unit in the direction of E, and placed again in a waiting position, and thereby one cycle of printing finishes. When a type (+) is to be used in the printing in the subsequent printing cycles, the type (+) in different position 201d other than the position 201c is selected for said printing. Thus the same characters in the different character chips are alternately selected. By repeating the above-mentioned operation, the type (+) of high frequency in use can be used without the need for overusing the same.
