    • PURPOSE: To enable a boat of running reversely in the shallows by providing the first and second check valves which change over the tansferred state of working oil between two chambers of a swivel bracket turning cylinder and making the check valves changeable in their motions as that one is opened while the other is closed, or both are closed.
      CONSTITUTION: The first chamber 23 and the second chamber 24B inside a cylinder 20 which turns a swivel bracket are capable of being communicated to each other by a bypass passage 32 bypassing a main piston 22. The bypass passage 32 has the first and second check valves 33 and 34 which are arranged reversely to each other in the series relation. At the reverse locking time of a propelling unit which is opened and closed via a cam 36 by the action of a sift lever 35, the unit closes the valve 33 and opens the valve 34. At the tilt-up time of the propelling unit, or at the time of forward run of a boat in the shallows, the unit opens the valve 33 and closes the valve 34. For the forward and rearward run of the propelling unit in the shallows, the unit closes both the valves 33 and 34 to perform their checking functions.

    • PURPOSE:To ignite an engine at optimum timing in both starting and warming it by igniting it at prescribed start ignition timing at the time of the starting where a start switch is closed, and changing ignition timing in responce to engine temperature at the time of the engine warming. CONSTITUTION:A start switch for enabling an engine to start, a temperature detector 35 for detecting engine temperature, an ignition timing setting device 30 for setting engine ignition timing, and a crank angle detector for detecting a crank angular position are provided. Further, an ignition signal generator 31 is provided for generating an ignition signal when a crank angle is positioned on the optimum ignition timing based on the detected result of the crank angle detector and the ignition timing setting device 30. At the time of engine starting where the start switch is closed, the engine is ignited in prescribed start ignition timing. At the time of engine warming where engine temperature is less than a prescribed value, it is ignited by the ignition timing setting device 30 at each ignition timing for warming predetermined in responce to the transition of the engine temperature.

    • PURPOSE:To effectively prevent engine knocking by keeping, for a prescribed period of time, ignition timing delayed by the knocking, in a method wherein the ignition timing is fed back for control in responce to knocking intensity. CONSTITUTION:A knocking detector 30 for detecting any knocking produced in an engine, a ignition timing setting device 25 for setting engine ignition timing, and a crank angle detector for detecting a crank angle position are provided. Further, an ignition signal generator 26 is provided for generating an ignition signal when the crank angle is positioned to optimun ignition timing based on the detected result of the ignition timing setting device 25 and the crank angle detector. The ignition timing setting device 25 sets stepwise the ignition timing allowing it to be delayed by knocking detection by the knocking detector 30, while keeping each delayed angle setting state of each stage for each prescribed period of time. Hereby, engine knocking is effectively prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To surely restrain engine overheat while reducing its speed without any shock by successively forcing plural cylinders excepting a part thereof to misfire in a prescribed time interval when engine temperature is over a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:An ignition timing setting device (CPU) 25 forces plural cylinders excepting one part thereof among entire cylinders to successively misfire at a prescribed time interval when engine temperature, throttle opening, and the number of revolutions are over prescribed values. This is effected by a fact that an ignition timing setting signal is not transmitted to an ignition signal generator 26. For example, the sixth cylinder, fifth cylinder, third cylinder, and second cylinder are forced to misfire in order at a certain space in time, and an engine operation is continued only by two cylinders of the first and fourth ones. Hereby, when engine temperature is abnormally raised, the number of revolutions is stepwise reduced, preventing any overheat without any shock.
