    • PURPOSE: To raise the hydrogen donating properties of a circulating solvent in a short time and clarify conditions for making a process system attain an equilibrium state in a coal liquefying process, comprising four steps of a slurry preparing step, a coal liquefying step, a liquefied oil distilling step and a solvent hydrogenating step, circulating and using a solvent for liquefying coal obtained in the solvent hydrogenating step in the slurry preparing step. CONSTITUTION: The mixing ratio of a medium oil to a heavy oil and the amount of a circulating solvent fed to a solvent hydrogenating step are regulated to constant values in mixing a part or the total amount of the medium oil obtained in a liquefied oil distilling step with the total amount of the heavy oil and hydrogenating the resultant mixture in the solvent hydrogenating step. Thereby, the fluctuation in the aromatic carbon fraction in the circulating solvent is suppressed to enable the stable production of the circulating solvent having the high hydrogen donative properties in a short period. Furthermore, control is performed so as to keep the total amount of the circulating solvents fed to the solvent hydrogenating step and the coal liquefying step within a prescribed range. As a result, the whole coal liquefying process is stabilized.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a method for liquefying coal by which the hydrogen donating properties of a circulating solvent are enhanced in a short period as much as possible and conditions for keeping the coal liquefying process system in an equilibrium state are obtained in the coal liquefying process, comprising four steps of a slurry preparing step, a coal liquefying step, a liquefied oil distillation step and a solvent hydrogenating step and circulating the solvent for liquefying the coal through the slurry preparing step for use. CONSTITUTION:This method for liquefying coal is to bisect the operating period into the former and the latter halves, perform the operation according to an operation pattern for taking out the total amount of a light oil and a part of a medium oil obtained in a liquefied oil distillation step as a product oil to the outside of the system and using the remainder of the medium oil and the total amount of a heavy oil as a feed solvent for a solvent hydrogenating step during the operating period of the former half, carry out the operation according to an operation pattern for taking out the total amount of the light oil as the product oil to the outside of the system and using the total amounts of the medium oil and the heavy oil as the feed solvent for the solvent hydrogenating step during the operating period of the latter half and take out the excessive solvent for liquefying the coal to the outside of the system.

SOLUTION: For example, a sample collecting device equipped with a receiver 1, a nozzle 2 for collection, a collecting valve 4, a degassing valve 5, a sample recovering valve 6, an inert gas introduction valve 7, etc., is installed in each liquefying reactional column, etc., to collect contents of each liquefying reactional column therefrom. Properties of the contents such as coal conversion rate and a liquefied oil yield are evaluated to perform the regulation (e.g. the regulation of the reactional time, concretely regulation of the number of the liquefying reactional columns used) of operating conditions according to progress conditions of the liquefying reaction for each liquefying reactional column when mixing the coal with a solvent and a catalyst for liquefying the coal, carrying out the hydrogenolysis of the resultant coal slurry with hydrogen gas under high temperature and pressure conditions using a reactional column 3 comprising the continuous multistage liquefying reactional columns and liquefying the coal.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably liquefy coal at a high efficiency by mixing the coal with a solvent and a catalyst, carrying out the hydrogenolysis of the resultant slurry, providing a liquefied oil, distilling the prepared liquefied oil, controlling the feed rates of a medium oil and a heavy oil obtained by the distillation, hydrogenating the oils, affording a solvent with a constant aromatic hydrocarbon fraction and circulating the solvent for use. SOLUTION: Coal 1 is mixed with a catalyst 2 for liquefying the coal 1 and a solvent 3 for liquefying the coal 1 to provide a slurry 4, which is then heated and pressurized in the presence of hydrogen 5 to carry out the pyrolysis and hydrogenolysis reactions. Thereby, a liquefied oil is obtained, distilled under atmospheric and reduced pressures and separated into a product oil and a liquefaction residue. The feed rates of a part or all of the resultant medium oil 11 and a heavy oil 12 are controlled with a feed pump 14, etc., so as to keep the aromatic hydrocarbon fraction (fa ) of the produced solvent 3 for liquefying the coal 1 constant and hydrogenolysis is conducted by using a catalyst for hydrogenating the solvent 3 to produce the solvent 3 for liquefying the coal 1 at a constant fa . The resultant solvent 3 for liquefying the coal 1 is circulated for use in slurrying of the coal 1.

    • PURPOSE:To stabilize the properties of a solvent for coal liquefaction to thereby stabilize the yields and properties of the liquefied product by calculating the temperature in a solvent hydrogenation tower according to a specified relationship and controlling the temperature in the tower according to the calculated temperature.
