摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce any impact to crew as well as to secure a large volume of gas by arranging a plurality of gas generating containers in parallel and also a retardant mechanism for relatively delaying the ignition timing of a gas generating agent inside one of the gas generating containers. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of gas generating containers 45, 46 are arranged in parallel on the back side of an air bag storing container 41. A retardant mechanism 55 is arranged to delay the ignition timing of a gas generating agent 13 inside one 46 of the gas generating containers from that of the gas generating agent 13 inside the other 45 gas generating containers. The retardant mechanism 55 is composed of a plural number of fuses 57, 58. In other words, the plural fuses 57, 58 are composed by having their respective input members 61 and output members 63 mutually connected by a plurality of fuses 65, 66 changed with powder along the central shaft. And also input member 61 is connected to an output distributor 69. Further the output distributor 69 has an electrical igniter 71, which makes ignition by a signal sent from an acceleration detecting sensor, connected thereto.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide an automatic ignition function under high temperature curcumstances by disposing a sealed container, which contains ignition charge and is formed from celluloid at least a part of it, in gas generating agents. CONSTITUTION:A sealed container 67 disposed in a gas generator mainbody 40 consists of a cylindrical cup 69 with the bottom containing ignition charge 47 and a celluloid base plate 71 sealing its opening. When an igniter 53 is energized, the sealed container 67 burns due to combustion of explosive therein, it transfers to the ignition charge 47, and gas generating agent 43 burns. Gas flowing through a combustion chamber filter 55 and an air charging chamber 57 is purified by an upper filter 59 and a filter 61 for gas filtration, flows through a gas exhaust vent and flows into the air bag. And when a temperature inside of an outer casing becomes lower than an ignition temperature but higher than 170 deg.C, the base plate 71 ignites to ignite the ignition charge 47 certainly, so that the possibility of failure of the combustion chamber 41 and the like is precluded.

Ignitors 65, 66 for igniting gas generator 63, 93 are disposed at respective central portions of the lid members 59, 61 at opposite end positions of the cylindrical member 41, respectively. A cylindrical final filter 67 is disposed inside the intermediate portion 43 of the cylindrical member 41. Cylindrical intermediate filters 69 are disposed between this final filter 67 and the partitioning members 55 and between the filter 67 and the partitioning member 57, respectively. A plurality of oriffices 75 are made open at positions of the partitioning members 55, 57 corresponding to sides of the intermediate filters 69.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent the leakage of combustion gas from a filter by baking and fixing an annular seal member made of rubber to both end faces of the filter main body. CONSTITUTION:An igniter 45 is energized to burn an ignition charge 47, and a gas generating agent 43 is burned. The gas from the agent 43 passes through a combustion-chamber filter 49 arranged along the inner periphery of a combustion chamber 41 and flows into a chamber 51 to be filled with gas and then flows into an upper filter 53. The gas is then allowed to collide with a partition plate 89, reversed, purified by a gas filter 55 and introduced into the air bag through a gas outlet 57, and the air bag is sufficiently expanded. The annular seal members 91 and 92 made of rubber are baked and fixed to both end faces of the filter main body 101, and hence the leakage of the high-temp. and high- speed gas from the end faces is prevented by the members 91 and 92.

摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a combustion chamber greatly by constructing each gas generating agent in the form of a ring-shaped plate provide in the center with a through hole, laminating this gas generating agent, and putting an ignitor and firing powder in through hole provided in the center. CONSTITUTION:Five or six sheets of gas generating agent 43 are arranged outside of firing powder 47 and an ignitor 45 in a combustion chamber 41, wherein each gas generating agent 43 is made in the form of a ring-shaped plate provided in the center with a through hole 44. Separators 83 are arranged between the sheets of gas generating agent, wherein each separator 83 consists of a ring-shaped gold steel using a stainless steel wire of #10-50, wherein the firing characteristic of the gas generating agent 43 is enhanced to enable securing an exhaust passage for the gas generating agent 43. When current is supplied to an ignitor 45 and the powder 47 is fired, the gas generating agent 43 will combust to generate combustion gas. This constitution reduces the rate of voids greatly compared with the case in which the combustion chamber is filled with a number of pellets of gas generating agent.
