    • PURPOSE:To reduce any impact to crew as well as to secure a large volume of gas by arranging a plurality of gas generating containers in parallel and also a retardant mechanism for relatively delaying the ignition timing of a gas generating agent inside one of the gas generating containers. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of gas generating containers 45, 46 are arranged in parallel on the back side of an air bag storing container 41. A retardant mechanism 55 is arranged to delay the ignition timing of a gas generating agent 13 inside one 46 of the gas generating containers from that of the gas generating agent 13 inside the other 45 gas generating containers. The retardant mechanism 55 is composed of a plural number of fuses 57, 58. In other words, the plural fuses 57, 58 are composed by having their respective input members 61 and output members 63 mutually connected by a plurality of fuses 65, 66 changed with powder along the central shaft. And also input member 61 is connected to an output distributor 69. Further the output distributor 69 has an electrical igniter 71, which makes ignition by a signal sent from an acceleration detecting sensor, connected thereto.

    • PURPOSE:To increase combustion gas capacity and purify a large volume of combustion gas by forming, by partitioning members, combustion chambers in which a gas generator agent is accommodated, at opposite end positions of a long size cylindrical member formed with gas outflow apertures at its intermediate portion, and by providing a filter means at each of the partitioning member. CONSTITUTION:This gas generator has a long size cylindrical member 41 which is formed with a number of gas outflow apertures 45 at its upper-side intermediate portion 43. At both sides of the cylindrical member 41, combustion chambers 51, 53 in which gas generator packs 47, 49 are accommodated are defined between a partitioning member 55 and a lid member 59 and between a partitioning member 57 and a lid member 61, respectively. Ignitors 65, 66 for igniting gas generator 63, 93 are disposed at respective central portions of the lid members 59, 61 at opposite end positions of the cylindrical member 41, respectively. A cylindrical final filter 67 is disposed inside the intermediate portion 43 of the cylindrical member 41. Cylindrical intermediate filters 69 are disposed between this final filter 67 and the partitioning members 55 and between the filter 67 and the partitioning member 57, respectively. A plurality of oriffices 75 are made open at positions of the partitioning members 55, 57 corresponding to sides of the intermediate filters 69.
