    • PURPOSE:To economically and surely prevent the outflow of slag by immersing a cylindrical member having an adequate inside area into the slag in the region right above a tap hole at the time of tapping of a molten metal and adding a hardener to the slag in said cylindrical member, thereby hardening the slag. CONSTITUTION:A converter 11 is tilted to tap a molten steel 13 from the tap hole 12. The cylindrical member 16 is immersed into the slag 14 in the area right above the tap hole 12 in this state. The above-mentioned cylindrical member 16 is constituted of a material having the inside area larger than the aperture area of the tap hole 12 and having the specific gravity slightly larger than the specific gravity of the slag 14 which floats on the molten steel 13. The above-mentioned cylindrical member 16 is thereby held still while the lower part thereof is partly held immersed in the molten steel 13. The hardener 19 consisting of calcium carbonate is added from a supply pipe 17 to the region enclosed by the cylindrical member 16 in this state to harden said slag. The outflow of the slag 14 is thereby prevented and the tapping is ended in the state of allowing just a small amt. of the molten steel 13 remaining in the tap hole.

    • PURPOSE:To quickly execute adjustment of Mn content in molten steel by obtaining shortage content of Mn in the molten steel with a Mn sensor providing an element coating oxide containing Mn on solid electrolyte having oxygen ion conductivity. CONSTITUTION:The sensor part 30 of a probe 14 is dipped into the molten steel in a ladle under treatment to obtain Mn activity in the molten steel. The probe 14 is composed of the sensor part 30 and a protecting tube 31 and the element 35 composing of the solid electrolyte 37 of ZrO2 coating Mn3O4 layer 38 on the surface, is provided in the sensor part 30 and in the inner part thereof, reference material 36 composing of mixed material of Cr and Cr2O3 is enclosed and a measuring electrode 40 is inserted. By the sensor part 30 having this constitution, electromotive force of Mn in the molten steel is detected to obtain the Mn activity, and by using this Mn activity, the shortage content of Mn is obtd. and Mn containing material quantity corresponding to the shortage content, is added. By this method, the treating time of molten steel is drastically shortened and the treating cost is reduced.

In such a way, as the carbon content in the molten steel is obtd. under consideration of Mn content in the molten steel, the assuming accuracy is drastically improved.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce deviation to the aimed value of phosphorus component after dephosphorizing treatment by measuring the phosphorus component in molten iron by using a P sensor during the dephosphorizing treatment and adding the necessary quantity of flux based on this result. CONSTITUTION:In the pre-treatment process of the molten iron, the P content in the molten iron and the molten iron temp. before pre-treatment are measured and the quantity of the flux calculated based on the P aimed value after the pretreatment is charged. From this value, change of P in the molten iron with the lapse of time is predicted. Further, the phosphorus sensor is dipped into the molten iron on the way of the process to measure P in the molten iron. Based on the difference between this measured value and the predicted value of P obtd. from the predicted change of P with the lapse of time, the adding quantity of the flux to be necessary to hit to the aimed value of P after the pre-treatment is calculated, and additionally changed.

At the same time, the assumed Mn content at the time of stopping the blowing is obtd. based on the assumed C content and temp. at the time of stopping the blowing calculated with the end point control model from the above both measured values. From the assumed Mn, etc., at the end stage of the flowing and the assumed Mn content at the time of stopping the flowing, O2 quality consumed with oxidized loss of Mn, is calculated, and the oxidized loss O2 quantity for Mn is added to the additional O2 quantity needed to decarburization and the raising temp. calculated with the end point model and the end point blowing is executed and Mn content at the time of stopping the blowing into the converter is controlled and C level in the molten steel at the end stage is accurately hit to the aimed value.
