    • PURPOSE:To enable the prevention of damage of a non-linear resistor or an insulating wrap body even if excessive lighting surge current is supplied by housing the non-linear resistor and a current limiting fuse connected in serial, in the insulating wrap body. CONSTITUTION:When a lightning surge current is generated in a line, this light ning surge current is discharged to the earth via a current limiting fuse 20 and non-linear resistor 13 connected in serial and housed in a glass 1. At this stage, if the lightning surge current is as small as as rated current of the non- linear resistor 13 or more smaller than it, the current limiting fuse 20 is not fused and the lightning surge current is discharged to the earth by the non-linear resistor 13 and a dynamic current is broken in a moment. When the lightning surge current is large than a discharge withstand current rating of the non-linear resistor 13, though a dynamic current breaking function of the non-linear resistor is lost but a fuse element 26 of the current limiting fuse 20 is melted in a moment so as to prevent the destruction of the non-linear resistor 13.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the surface flash over through the surface dirt of a nonlinear resistor due to a lightning surge by joining and fixing a column, formed from a material having a non-linear voltage-current characteristic and having its one end abutting the voltage applied side and the other end abutting earth side, and insulating creases formed of porcelain with an inorganic material. CONSTITUTION:When a lightning surge current enters an electric wire 5, the lightning surge current flows through an insulator column 1 formed of a nonlinear resistor to base fittings 8, and is discharged to the earth side of an arm 11, etc. The continued current in the line following to the lightning surge is interrupted by the non-linear resistor constituting the column 1 so that an earthing accident, etc., are prevented. In addition, an undue lightning surge current unable to be discharged by the column 1 discharged to the base fittings 8 via an electrically conductive layer 14 on the insulator surface. As a result, the damage to the insulator owing to the arc of the non-linear resistor is reduced. Further, the non-linear resistor can be mechanically strengthened by providing a through-hole 1a in the column 1 and inserting a reinforcing member 16 such as FRP into the hollow part thereof and fixing it therein, and fixing the lower end of the reinforcing member 16 together with the column 1 to the base fittings 8.

    • PURPOSE:To regulate an exhaust direction of discharged gas due to a dynamic current arc as well as to prevent the arc and damage to a line electric wire and a transformer or the like by connecting and fixing a conductive ceramics electrode, closing the bore, to one end of an insulative ceramics cylinder and a metallic plate electrode to the other end, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A conductive ceramics electrode 3 consisting of conductive ceramics is welded to the upper end face of a gap unit U1 and a metallic plate electrode 5 to the lower end face, respectively, thereby hermetically sealing a bore 2a of a ceramics cylinder 2. In an interval between semispherical discharge ends 3b and 7b of both electrodes 3 and 7, there is provided with the specified discharge gap G. A unit U2 is provided with the metallic plate electrode 5 and the discharge electrode 7 at both vertical ends. If both units U1 and U2 are hermetically sealed in a ceramic vessel 9, when the dynamic current due to lighting surge flows, the ceramics electrode 3 being high in a melting point is hard to be damaged even if high temperature, high pressure gas of an arc occurs in the discharge gap G, and these hot and high pressure gases fuse and break down these electrodes 5 and 7 and are exhausted downward. With this constitution, a gas discharge pressure direction is regulable and, what is more, arc damage to a line electric wire and peripheral equipment is preventable.
