    • PURPOSE:To protect struts from the impact loads of iceberg by easily breaking the icebergs by a method in which a hand hour-glass shaped strut having a constricted portion on its upper part, positioned slightly above the water surface, is set and a vibration insulator is packed into the aperture between the lower end periphery of the strut and the inner surface of a fixed foundation. CONSTITUTION:A marine structure consists of a fixed foundation 3, a vibration insulator 4, a strut 5, and a deck 2. The sloped side 5a of the strut 5 is shaped into a conical form so that iceberg B dashing against the structure is moved from the water surface WL upward and easily broken by bending loads applying to the iceberg B. The upper part above the water level WL of the strut 5 is shaped into a constricted form so that the whole weight of the marine structure is reduced. A vibration insulator 4 is also packed into the aperture between the lower end periphery of the strut 5 and the inner surface of the edge of the foundation 3 so that the vibration of the strut 5 caused by iceberg B is reduced and the strut 5 is protected from impact loads of the iceberg D and irregular-shaped ice C.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To come and go between a main hull and a cushioning support compartment at any time without stopping control of a cushioning support mechanism by providing a passage member for coming and going of persons between the cushioning support compartment and the main hull on a part position at which relative movement between the cushioning support compartment and the main hull becomes minimum. SOLUTION: An upper structure 4 as a cushioning support compartment connected to a main hull 1 through a cushioning support mechanism and supported so as to lighten influence from oscillation of the main hull 1 by controlling the mechanism is provided, and the upper structure 4 is provided with passenger rooms, restaurants, and the like. A part position at which relative movement between the main hull 1 and the upper structure 4 is expected to be minimum is selected, and a passage member 12 for coming and going of persons between the upper structure 4 and the main hull 1 is provided on the part position. Consequently, persons utilizing the cushioning support section can come and go against the main hull side or the upper structure not support with the cushioning support mechanism, without stopping control of the cushioning support mechanism.
