    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a masking member which reduces the peeling of a coating film associated with the removal of the member, even without increasing a burden of working. SOLUTION: The film-forming method includes: preparing first and second masking members 2 and 3; and making an inner circumferential surface 6a of a hole of the second masking member 3 project in a direction closer to a region side on which a thermal-sprayed layer 8 is formed than an inner circumferential surface 5a of a hole of the first masking member 2. Then, the inner circumferential parts of the holes of the first and second masking members 2 and 3 form a substantial undercut shape, even without applying special working such as undercut working to the first and second masking members 2 and 3. Thereby, the method reduces the deposition of the thermal-sprayed layer 8 on the respective inner circumferential surfaces 5a and 6a of the holes of the first and second masking members 2 and 3, when the thermal-sprayed layer 8 is formed, and can suppress the peeling of the coating film when the masking members (the first and second masking members) are removed after the coating film has been formed.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal spraying pretreatment method for a casting which can make the surface of a casting into preferable surface conditions from the viewpoint of securing the adhesion force of a sprayed coating.
      SOLUTION: Before shot blast treatment, a casting surface 1s is subjected to shot peening treatment using spherical shot peening materials 2, compressive residual stress is applied to the surface part of the casting 1, and the surface part is made into a surface hardened layer 3. Even when a cavity 4a is present at the part directly below the casting surface 1s, a blast material is not deeply infiltrated into the casting surface part, and the new appearance of the cavity 4a is prevented. On the other hand, regarding the reduction of the rough state of the casting surface 1s, the degree in the reduction of the surface conditions is compensated with the increase of the surface hardness. Further, in the case a cavity 4b appears on the casting surface 1s, the shot peening materials are infiltrated into the cavity, and, not only the parting of a sprayed coating can be prevented, but also, upon shot blast treatment, grinding of the peripheral part in the cavity 4b is suppressed, and the expansion of the cavity (size) can be suppressed.
