摘要： PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive reversible thermal recording material capable of obtaining a sharp developed color image reduced in irregularity. CONSTITUTION:A reversible thermal recording layer containing a usually colorless or light-colored electron donating dye precursor and a reversible coupler causing a reversible hue change in the dye precursor by the difference of a cooling speed after heating as main components is provided on base paper. The base paper is allowed stand for 48hr under a humidity condition of density of 1.0g/cm or more and RH of 40 deg.C-90% and the center line average roughness after standing and that before standing are set to Ra1 and Ra2 so that Ra1/Ra2 is 1.5 or less.

In this case, as the dye precursor, a compd. represented by general formula (wherein Q and Q are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or a cycloalkyl group, Q is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a halogen atom and Q and Q are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a halogen atom, an aryl group or a cycloalkyl group) is used.

As the aromatic isocyanate compound, 2,6-dichlorophenyl isocyanate or p-chlorophenyl isocyanate is used and, as the imino compound, 3-iminoindolin-1-one or 3-imino-4,5,6,7- tetrachloroisoindolin-1-one is used.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in preservability of a ground and preservability of images by a method wherein a heat-sensitive coating liquid for forming a thermal recording layer of a thermal recording material is adjusted to have a pH in a predetermined range, before being applied to a support. CONSTITUTION:A heat-sensitive coating liquid for forming a thermal recording layer of a thermal recording material comprising an aromatic isocyanate compound and an imino compound for forming a color by reacting with the isocyanate compound when being heated, on a support, is adjusted to have a pH of 5-12. The pH adjustment is carried out by use of an acidic compound and a basic compound. Acetic acid, acrylic acid or the like may be used as an organic acidic substance, whereas sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid or the like may be used as an inorganic acidic substance. Sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide or the like may be used as an organic basic substance, whereas trisodium phosphate or the like may be used as an inorganic basic substance. The aromatic isocyanate compound may be 2,6-dichlorophenyl isocyanate or the like, and the imino compound may be 3-iminoisoindolin-1-one or the like.
