CONSTITUTION: Rotary discs 4 fixed coaxially and in parallel with each other on a horizontal rotary shaft 3, to form disc groups a-d. The gap between the discs 4 in the disc groups a-d is reduced in the direction from the waste water inflow portion to the outflow portion. Baffle plates 2 are not necessarily required, according to the inflow speed, outflow speed, and amount of the waste water. This constitution evens the distribution of microbes deposited on the discs 4, stabilizes the treatment performance, and provides treat water of high reliability.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a method of treating waste water containing dithionic acid and ammonia by way of biological treatment, which comprises the steps of cultivating activated sludge containing thiocyanogen as main nutritive source under aerobic condition, then introducing waste water into the activated sludge, and thus decomposing dithionic acid and ammonia contained in waste water simultaneously by way of oxidation. CONSTITUTION:At first, activated sludge (containing sulfuric bacteria such as thiobacillus-thiopulse, thiobacillus-neapolitanis, thiobacillus-novellous) containing thiocyanogen as main nutritive source is cultivated under aerobic condition. When the thiocyanogen contained in sludge is exidized to sulfuric ions and nitric ions, amount of nitric bacteria begins to be increased in addition to the above-mentioned sulfuric bacteria. Under such circumstances, when waste water containing dithionic acid and ammonia is introduced into the activated sludge in which sulfuric and nitric bacteria coexist, dithionic acid and ammonia are hydroxidated respectively to sulfuric acid and nitric acid.
