    • PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of a waveguide and to avoid a short circuit between devices connected by the waveguide via the waveguide and its supporting constitution by constituting the waveguide with a nonconductive material and coating the inner surface of the waveguide with a good conductor. CONSTITUTION:A tubular waveguide 1 which transmits electromagnetic waves and its connection flange 2 are made of an insulated material such as plastic, ceramics, glass, etc. A conductive coat 3 of a good conductor is provided consecutively on the inner surface of the waveguide 1 and a part of the flange surface. The coat 3 is formed by a dry process such as a vacuum vapor deposition process, an ion plating process, etc. The depth (d) of the coat 3 is defined, as d=(2omegasigmamu) , where omega equals to 2pif, (f) equals to the frequency of an electromagnetic wave, sigma equals to the conductivity of the coat and mu equals to the permeability of the coat respectively. As a result, the internal leakage of electromagnetic waves is prevented for the waveguide 1 with the reduction of weight of the waveguide 1. Furthermore a short circuit is avoided between devices which are connected by the waveguide 1.

    • PURPOSE:To perform a high-precision leakage test by providing a pipe for leading gas outside of a heat insulating layer to the space between a vacuum container and the heat insulating layer, and then introducing testing gap to the circumference of the external wall of the vacuum container through the pipe during the leakage test. CONSTITUTION:The space between the external wall of a vacuum container 1 and a heat insulating layer 3 is utilized to install an air pipe 12 provided with an adequate number of holes 13 of proper size, and its one end is led out through the heat insulating layer 3 nd the armor 10 of the heat insulating layer. During a leakage test, testing apparatus is installed to this vacuum device and testing gas is charged in a cover 8. Then, the testing gas is introduced into the space between the external wall of the vacuum container 1 and heat insulating layer 3 through the air pipe 12 until this space is filled. The vacuum container 1 is evacuated by a vacuum discharging system 4 and the amount of testing gas leaking into the vacuum container 1 is measured by a detector 6.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain a high characteristic for sealing in a vacuum valve provided with a metallic valve seat and a seal-packing of a valve lid to contact therewith by jetting gas toward the contacting part just before the valve seat is brought into contact with the seal-packing for closing the valve. CONSTITUTION:A valve seat 30 made of hard metal and a seal-packing 28 for a valve lid 20 made of soft metal are provided in a vacuum valve composed of a valve main body 10, a connecting flange 12, and a valve-driving part 14 for resisting against baking and radiation. A mechanism is taken for closing a valve to jet gas toward a sealing part from a nozzle 32 just before a valve seat 30 is brought into contact with a seal-packing 28. Consequently, minute dusts stuck to surfaces of the valve seat 30 and the seal-packing 28 are blown away by the jetted gas, and the sealing part is protected against injuries for maintaining the characteristic for sealing.
