CONSTITUTION:This assembled type multiple optical connector is equipped with two connector main bodies 10 and 11 which have plural positioning V grooves 12 formed in their main surfaces and plural fiber V grooves 14 formed in the bottom surfaces of spacer storage parts formed in the main surfaces, a member 16 which has positioning V grooves 12 and plural fiber V grooves 18 formed in both main surfaces, positioning pins 20 which are arranged in the spaces formed of the positioning V grooves 12 and 17 of the connector main bodies 10 and 11 and member 16 when the connector main body holds the member 16 between the positioning V grooves confronted with each other, optical fibers 15 which are mounted in the fiber V grooves 14, and spacers 22 which are arranged in spaces formed of the spacer storage parts 13 and member when the member 16 is sandwiched between the connector main bodies 10 and 11 to support the optical fibers.

CONSTITUTION:Corresponding optical fibers are connected optically by forming the polished end surface where plural optical fiber end surfaces are exposed and making the abutting end surface abut on the abutting end surface of the other optical connector in the refractive index matching agent, and the optical fibers are moved by a specific pitch along the abutting end surface to switch optical paths. This optical connector 10 has a recessed part 11d formed at least either on the end surface where the optical fiber 12a is exposed or in its peripheral area on the abutting end surface 11c.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the array pitch of optical fibers to be inserted and fixed to the multi-fiber optical connector accurate. The number of the optical fiber inserting holes 13 is formed 2 pieces more than the number of the cores of the bare optical fibers 4 (8 pieces). The bare optical fibers 4 are not inserted into the surplus optical fiber inserting holes 13 on the both end sides out of the 10 optical fiber inserting holes 13 and a group of the optical fiber inserting holes, in which the bare optical fibers 4 are inserted and fixed, are held with the surplus optical fiber inserting holes 13 from the both sides.

In the chip 13, an optical waveguide layer 30 consisting of a lower clad layer 3a, a core part 2 and an upper clad layer 3b is formed on a wavegude layer forming recessed part formed on the surface 9 side center part of a base 1 so as to be projected from the surface 9 of the base 1, the bottom of the core part 2 is set up to the same face as the surface 9 and the surface 9 parts on both the sides of the layer 30 are set up as chip side positioning parts 7a, 7b. Each connection end member 14 is constituted of an engaging recessed part 5 to be engaged with the layer 30 and positioning parts 6a, 6b formed on both the sides of the recessed part 5 and the positioning parts 6a, 6b are abutted upon the positining parts 7a, 7b to position and engage the member 14 with the chip 13. The center of the core part 2 is set to the same height as the center B of engaging pin inserting holes 4a, 4b formed on the member 14.

摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing an optical waveguide module which obviates the peeling of optical waveguides during the course of production or use. After the cap member 10 is adhered to the waveguide chip 15, a release agent is applied on the front surface of the optical waveguides 5 before and behind the cap member 10 and thereafter, the parts exclusive of the optical waveguide connecting ends are covered with a covering member 18. The covering member 18 is provided with pin fitting holes 13 for connecting the waveguide chip inscribed with the fitting guide grooves 8 and the guide cap grooves 14.

Therefore, since the space between the guide pinholes 8 and 18 is set to the specified space in accordance with the arranging pitch of the optical waveguide 4 or the arranging pitch of the optical fiber 11, such an error that the connectors 10 and 20 are connected in a state where the bonding surfaces 5 and 6 of the module 1 are mistaken for each other is prevented.
