摘要： PURPOSE:To enable stable reading of signals by sufficiently narrowing the areas of the parts of magnetic shielding layers exposed on the floating surfaces of the magneto-resistance effect type head facing a magnetic recording medium than the cross sectional areas of the parts of the magnetic shielding layers parted from the floating surfaces. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-resistance effect type head 1 is constituted by sufficiently narrowing the areas of the parts of the magnetic shielding layers 1d, 1d' exposed on the floating surfaces of the magneto-resistance effect type head facing the magnetic recording medium 2 than the cross sectional areas of the parts of the magnetic shielding layers 1d, 1d' parted from the floating surfaces. The extension of the materials, such as magnetic shielding layers 1d, 1d' exposed on the floating surfaces of the head and lead conductors 1b, in the moving direction of the magnetic recording medium 2 is thereby substantially prevented even if the floating surface of the head 1 comes into contact with the magnetic recording medium 2. The contact of the magnetic shielding layers 1d, 1d' and the lead conductors 1b is thus eliminated and the flow of the sense current through the magnetic shielding layers 1d, 1d' is prevented. The stable reading output of the signals is thus obtd.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent the peeling of a soft magnetic film for forming an upper magnetic pole deposited on an interlayer insulating layer consisting of a thermosetting resin on the lower magnetic pole and coil even if this soft magnetic film is heat treated in a magnetic field relating to the process for production of thin film magnetic heads used for magnetic disk devices, etc. CONSTITUTION:The lower magnetic pole 12, a gap layer 13, the interlayer insulating layers 14, 16 consisting of the thermosetting resin films subjected to a thermosetting treatment in an inert gas and the thin-film coil 15 are successively formed on a substrate 11 and further the interlayer insulating layer 22 of the uppermost part consisting of the thermosetting resin subjected to the thermosetting treatment in the inert gas is further formed stop these layers; thereafter, the soft magnetic film 23 is deposited on the interlayer insulating layer 22 of the uppermost part. This soft magnetic film 23 and the lower magnetic pole 12 are heat treated in the magnetic field and are then patterned, by which the upper magnetic pole 24 is formed. A thermosetting resin film 21 for the interlayer insulating layer in the above-mentioned uppermost part is heat treated in the air before this film is subjected to the thermosetting treatment at this time.
