SOLUTION: A connection channel of a communication opposite party is checked (S1). The communication available speed of its own apparatus is compared with a communication available speed of the opposite apparatus declared by a signal DIS sent from the communication opposite party (S5), and when the communication available speed of its own apparatus is slower than the communication available speed of the opposite apparatus, the communication available speed of its own apparatus is used for the communication speed (S6). When the communication available speed of its own apparatus is faster than the communication available speed of the opposite unit, the communication available speed of the opposite apparatus is used for the communication speed (S7).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it unnecessary for a user to select whether a communicated party is radio connection or wire connection every communication by changing a timer value of initial identification at an initial identification time in accordance with whether the communicated party is radio connected or not. SOLUTION: Every time a communicated party terminal kind selection button 26 is pressed, a communicated party terminal kind display circuit 28 repeats displays of facsimile equipment of wire connection and radio connection by turns and outputs a signal level 0 or 1. A one touch dial register circuit 30 corresponds to a one touch dial of an operation part 24 and registers a telephone number of the other party and whether the facsimile equipment of a communicated party is wire connected or radio connected. When the communicated party is radio connected, a control circuit 20 makes a timer value of initial identification longer in comparison with a case when the communicated party is not radio connected, and changed it. Thus, the timer value of the initial identification can appropriately be set and reliable facsimile communication can be performed.

    • PURPOSE: To output an image or the like through memory reception onto recording paper of an optimum size by controlling a light emitting means so as to change the emitted light based on a kind of a size in the memory. CONSTITUTION: This facsimile equipment is provided with a 1st memory 13 storing image information, a 2nd memory 15 storing a size of an image stored in the 1st memory 13, a light emitting means 22 used to indicate the existence of image information in the 1st memory 13, a recording means 3 recording the image information, a communication means sending/receiving the image information, and a control means 11 controlling the light emitting means 22 so as to change the emitted light depending which size of image is stored in the 1st memory 13. Then the size of the image of memory reception is stored in a nonvolatile memory 15 and a display method of a lamp 22 informing the presence of the image in the memory 13 is changed depending on the kind of the size of the image in the memory 15 to inform the size of image in the memory 15.
