    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform workers who perform operations at the downstream side of a sewage pipe that abnormal swollenness occurs at the upstream side of the sewage pipe, and prevent the abnormal swollenness from extending to the downstream side.
      SOLUTION: This abnormal swollenness suppressing device 1 is disposed in the sewage pipe 2 as shown in Fig.1(a). As shown in Fig.1(b), the device includes a dam member 3 for intercepting a sewage flow. Since fine holes 3a are drilled in the dam member 3, if the abnormal swollenness occurs at the upstream side of the device and a water level rises, a part of the sewage flows to the downstream side through the fine holes 3a, and the water level on the downstream side rises thought gentle. By the rise of the water level, the workers who perform operations on the downstream side can know the abnormal swollenness at the upstream side, and can escape from the sewage pipe.
