    • PURPOSE:To simplify an exciter system of a small-capacity power-generating station, by connecting a load tap switching transformer being controlled by a tap-switching signal which adjusts reactive power to a high voltage unit of a synchrogenerator, and by exciting a field coil. CONSTITUTION:A generator 2 connected directly to a water turbine 1 is connected to a high voltage unit L via a transformer 4. The unit L is connected to a load tap switching transformer 5 and connected to a field coil 8 via a commutator 6a. A tap controller 22 is provided to detect voltage and current of the generator 2, and to adjust reactive power, thereby the tap of transformer 5a is controlled. After exciting initially with a battery 9 and parallelling the generator 2 to the unit L, the transformer 5a is inputted and a self-excited circuit is formed. Therefore, the transformer 5a tap can be controlled to settle invalid power of the generator 2 in a predetermined control range. This simplifies its constitution substantially and restrains generating cost.
