    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the responsiveness of output of a displacement sensor changing the output signal in response to migration of a moving magnetic body. SOLUTION: The displacement sensor is equipped with a primary coil 2, secondary coils 4a and 4b, and a moving magnetic core 6 migrating in response to displacement of a measured object to change the voltage generated in the secondary coils 4a and 4b, while the secondary coils 4a and 4b are differentially connected and, based on the differential synthesized output voltage, a polyphase signal generating section 10 generating two-phase signal with different phases.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring the position of a piston in a cylinder. SOLUTION: The device measures the position of the piston 2 inside the axially extending cylinder 1 and includes at least two positional sensors 3 and 4. The two positional sensors include first sensor members 20 and 40 integral with a support pallet 31 connected to the piston 2, and second sensor members 10 and 30 integral with the cylinder 1, respectively. The first and second sensor members of each positional sensor carry out mutual translation motion, along an axis parallel with that of the cylinder 1. The first sensor members 20 and 40 are integrated with the same support pallet 31, connected to the piston 2 by means of a ball joint link 50. By using this device, the positional sensors can be disposed in the cylinder, without causing strains in a direction transverse to the piston transmitted thereto; and moreover, the piston is made freely rotatable about the axis of a cylindrical barrel.
