    • PURPOSE:To prevent a material to be rolled from producing a roll-stop mark by estimating the amount of plastic deformation of the material produced within the contacting arc of a work roll at the time of stopping a rolling mill, in rolling a metallic material by a reversing mill with incorporated work rolls. CONSTITUTION:In cold rolling a material to be rolled 10 by small work rolls 8, 9 of 60mm diameter each. The amount of plastic deformation of material 10 produced within the contacting arc (1.2-3) of each of the rolls 8, 9 at the time of stopping a mill, is estimated in consideration of a kind of material 10, a draft in the sheet thickness direction and the diameters of rolls 8, 9, to open a roll gap by the estimated portion just before stopping rolling and close the roll gap by said portion when restarting the rolling. Thus, the material 10 is prevented from producing a roll-stop mark even when the reversing cold mill is stopped on the way of rolling, and the yield of rolling material is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic strip having high surface luster with high efficiency by subjecting the metallic strip to reversible rolling at a high speed by using large-diameter rolls then to reversible rolling at a low speed by using small- diameter rolls. CONSTITUTION:The metallic strip is passed through the 1st reversible rolling mill 1 having large-diameter work rolls 14. A soluble type lubricating oil is supplied from the 1st lubricating oil tank 9 to the mill and the strip is rolled up to the intermediate pass under a high draft at a high speed. The strip is then passed through the 2nd reversible rolling mill 2 having the small-diameter work rolls 15 and a straight type lubricating oil is supplied to the mill from the 2nd lubricating oil tank 11. The strip is rolled up to the finish pass at a low speed so that the high metallic luster is generated on the metallic strip. Coiling reels 4, 5 positioned between both mills 1 and 2 are provided on a revolving drum 7 and the coil is transferred between both mills 1 and 2 by the 180 deg. rotation of the drum 7.
