    • PURPOSE:To stably reproduce/record information by forming a moving torque providing means with a linear motor including a magnetic circuit comprising a long magnet and long yokes prolonged along the moving direction and engaged with each other and arranging steel-made rollers to the yoke side of the magnetic circuit. CONSTITUTION:A supporting means supporting a pickup body 7 being a holding member holding an objective lens 58 and a servo driving mechanism freely movably along the recording face of a recording medium and the moving torque providing means giving the moving torque to the body 7 are provided. The body 7 consists of supporting rails 5, 6 and steel-made rollers 8, 9 in rolling contact onto the rails and the moving torque provision means consists of the linear motor including the magnetic circuit 28 consisting of the long magnet 16 and the long yokes 17, 18 engaged therewith. The rollers 8, 9 are arranged toward the yokes 17, 18 being almost immune to the magnetic field among the sides of the magnetic circuit 30. Thus, the steel-made rollers 8, 9 are in smooth rolling contact onto the supporting rails 5, 6 and the reproduction/ recording of information is stably attained.

    • PURPOSE:To set the optimum value of the recording property when a magnetic tape travles backward, by recording the reference signal after varying one of a record equalizer, bias and level while transporting the magnetic tape in a single direction. CONSTITUTION:During the control of a record equalizer, switches S2a, S2b and S2c are switched to the EQ side to secure the recording mode. Thus a counter 4 of oscillation 1 starts counting and at the same time control signal frequencies f1 and f2 are recorded on a tape 11 for a multivibrator 3. A record equalizer setting circuit 7 controls the level successively and according to the count contents of the counter 4. The recording mode is cancelled by the carry output of the counter 4. At the same time, the tape is controlled backward to secure the reproduction mode. The DC level is obtained for the reproduced signal through a separating circuit 14 and in accordance with the level of f1 and f2 respectively. Then a flip-flop 30 is inverted when a coincidence of the level is obtained through a comparator 17. Thus a switch S1 opens to set EQ. Thereafter, the bias and level are controlled.
