The material includes maximum 50 mass% fragments of refractory brick having a particle diameter of not smaller than 1 mm and not less than 9 mass% spheroidized particles having a difference of bulk specific gravity and the refrartory brick fragments of not greater than 0.5 and a particle diameter of not less than 1 mm in 100 mass% refractory powder.

In the thermal spraying apparatus for forming a refractory composition by ejecting and burning the mixture, gas blowing means A and B for blowing a supplementary carrier gas are provided at the positions in a flow passage of the ejector 30 and a downstream side thereof, excluding a straight part of the discharge conduit pipe 33 of the ejector 30.
