In this case, the Mn sensor having a solid electrolyte 4 of ZnO2+7% MgO, normal electrode 2 and a Mo-made measuring electrodes 1, 1' and having MnO or Mn3O4 coat 5 on the surface of the solid electrolyte 4, and a thermocouple 7 are fitted to the sub-lance and submerged into the molten-metal 8. Mn activated value in the molten metal is calculated from voltage between both electrodes 1, 1' for the sensor and the measured temp. with the thermocouple 7 for measuring the molten metal temp., and the Mn content in the molten metal 8 is assumed from this value, and further, Mn oxidizing loss at the end period of the blowing is assumed, to control the O2 blowing rate and the molten metal temp., and the content at the end point of the refining is assumed and hit to the aimed value at high accuracy.

    • PURPOSE:To predict the development of slag foaming and to prevent the development of slopping by measuring furnace temp. with a temp. sensor arranging at the prescribed part in a furnace body at the time of steelmaking refining with oxygen-blowing in the converter and comparing the above temp. with the slag foaming temp. CONSTITUTION:The molten iron 13 in the converter 1 is charged, and by blowing oxygen gas from the top-blowing lance 12, the carbon content is oxidized and decarbonized to produce the molten steel. In this case, by fitting the temp. sensor 15 at the upper position of steel tapping hole 14, etc., in the converter, the temp. in the furnace is continuously measured. The molten slag 17 comes to the foaming state in accordance with progressing the decarbonizing reaction and the measured temp. is raised with the temp. sensor 15, according to raise the temp. in the furnace. In this case, beforehand the developing temp. of the molten slag foaming is actually measured, and by comparing this temp., the developing of slag foaming is predicted and the development of the slag forming with the adjustment, etc., of oxygen supplying quantity from a lance 12 is prevented and the development of slopping is prevented from occurring, to stabilize the converter operation.

    • PURPOSE:To predict slag foaming in an early period and to stabilize the condition of a converter by inserting a sub-lance mounted with a photodetector at the top end into the converter during converter operation and computing the fluctuation in the field area of an observation hole changing with the slag sticking near the observation hole of the photodetector. CONSTITUTION:The sub-lance 2 which has the furnace inside observation hole 3 at the top end and the photodetector 4 behind said hole is inserted into the converter and the photovideo on the inside of the converter is detected through the observation hole 3. The detection signal thereof is projected on a monitor 6 through a video processor 5. The fluctuation in the ratio at which the slag sticking and forming near the hole 3 occupies the field area of the hole 3 is computed by an arithmetic unit 7. The result of the computation is sent to a decision device 8 which compares the same with the predetermined initial field area of the hole 3 as a reference. An alarm for the generation of the slag foaming is emitted from an alarm device 9 at need according to the result thereof so that the slag foaming is prevented. The decrease in the yield of tapping by sloping and the decrease in the recovering rate of gaseous OG are thereby prevented and the oxygen blowing operation is stabilized.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of slopping caused by foaming slag by injecting reducing agent into the foaming slag developing in a converter from a lance at the time of refining molten iron to molten steel in the converter providing a bottom blowing tuyere and the top blowing lance. CONSTITUTION:The molten iron 12 is charged into the converter 10 having the bottom blowing tuyere, and the lance 16 is descended into the converter to blow oxygen 17 on the surface of molten iron 12 from a blowing hole 22 at the constant interval, and also the oxygen is blown from the bottom blowing tuyere, to refine the molten steel as decarburizing by oxidizing C in the molten iron. Then, at the time of inserting the lance 16 in the molten slag 14 generated in the converter in foaming by viscosity and increasing its volume, it is detected by a slag level detector. And, coke powder 33 is injected in the foaming slag 14 from injecting holes 18 at outer pipe part of the lance by Ar gas through a piping 30 by driving a pump 29 to reduce the viscosity by reduction of FeO in the slag. As CO gas generated by decarburizing reaction is easily vented upward on the slag 14, the occurrence of slopping is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To enable quick and exact quantitative detection of a slag level by providing plural magnetic field generating coils are receiving coils horizontally and stepwise so as to face each other to the wall of a converter and measuring continuously the current values of the magnetic fields generated in the converter. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic field generating coils 4a-4c parted from each other at prescribed spacings are embedded horizontally in multiple stages to one side of the wall 1a of the converter 1 above the surface of a molten steel 2. The receiving coils 6a-6c are embedded horizontally in multiple stages to the other side of the wall 1a so as to face the coils 4a-4c. ACs are supplied from respective power sources 5a-5c to the magnetic field generating coils 4a-4c constituted in the above-mentioned manner to generate the magnetic fields A, B, C. The magnetic fields A, B, C are continuously measured by the receiving coils 6a-6c opposite to said coils and are displayed on ammeters 8a-8c via amplifiers 7a-7c. The current values of the magnetic fields C, B, A change successively when the foaming of the slag 3 in the converter 1 progresses. The slag level in the converter 1 is thus exactly detected and slopping is prevented.
