    • PURPOSE:To join thoroughly the outside layer material and inside layer material of a composite roll and to prevent the variance of quality by forming preliminarily the outside layer material into a hollow shape and pouring a molten metal into the hollow part to form the core material. CONSTITUTION:The outside layer material 4 of the roll having a prescribed size is installed to the projecting part of a dummy bar and an integral cylindrical metallic mold 3 provided with a high-frequency induction heating coil 8 is installed around said material. A sealing cover 6 is attached thereto and gaseous Ar is blown from a gaseous Ar blow-off nozzle 7 and is blown off through a blow-off nozzle 9. The preheating by the coil 8 is stopped when the material 4 attains the prescribed temp. A long nozzle is inserted from the upper part of the cover 6. The molten metal is poured to the inside surface side of the material 4 in a non-oxidizing atmosphere and is pressurized by a plunger 11. The molten metal is pressurized by plungers 11, 13 after a jig 2 for holding the dummy bar is opened to lower the dummy bar 1 and the composite roll along guide rolls 14. The heated composite roll is cooled with cooling water nozzles 15.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a special device for preheating a material to be embedded by casting by forming a coating layer of a surface treating agent on the surface of said material and forming a coating layer of an exothermic material in superposition thereon then embedding said material by casting a molten material for embedding by casting. CONSTITUTION:A coating layer 6 of a surface treating agent is formed on the surface of a material to be embedded by casting, for example, a pipe 1, and further a coating layer 7 of an exothermic material is formed on the surface thereof. A casting mold 4 is then formed and after the pipe 1 is installed into the mold 4, casting sand 3 kneaded with a furan resin, etc. is introduced into the pipe 1 and is compacted. A molten metal 8 is thereupon poured through a sprue 5 into the mold to embed the pipe 1 by casting, thus producing a composite pipe casting. The coating layer may be of one layer consisting of a mixture composed of the surface treating agent and exothermic material without forming the same of the above-described two layers.

    • PURPOSE:To enable casting of a thin slab by arranging one side of a pair of top rolls at higher position than the other side, holding belts at intermediate part between the upper and lower top rolls and arranging at least one pair of rolls, by which the center part of cross section of the belt is bent as projecting shape, outwardly. CONSTITUTION:The position of the top roll 3 for adjusting tensile force of one side of belt 1, is made to high and deformed rolls 10, 11 are set between the above roll 3 and molten metal surface 8. The roll 10 is a saddle type roll recessed at the center part and the roll 11 is a drum type roll projected at the center part. The cross section of the belt 1 is bent outwardly in the range of the elasticity thereof by these rolls 10, 11. Wide pool 13 is formed between the belts 1, 1' and pouring nozzle 7 having the ordinary size can be inserted. Even if the gap L at the end parts of the belts 1, 1' corresponding to the thickness of the slab is thin, the molten metal can be poured. The belt 1 is returned to the flattening condition during passing through a cooling pad 5 by forcedly straightening with flat driving roll 2 and also the slab after solidification is made to the flattened slab having thickness L.

    • PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of equipment, comparing with a plunger press, and also to improve the operability by improving a pressure device of a pouring molten metal in a composite roll manufacturing device.
      CONSTITUTION: A composite roll manufacturing device is constituted of a cylindrical one body metallic mold 3 and its preheating device 8 for forming and heating a composite roll, also a dummy bar 1 for holding a molten metal, a seal cover 6 being a gas pressure device for pressing the molten metal which becomes a core material of the composite roll, a pressure tank 19, a compressor 20, a seal cover 6 provided with an Ar gas blow-in nozzle 7 and a blow-out nozzle 9 for maintaining a non-oxidizing state of the joint surface to be cast-in at the time of preheating of the metallic mold 3, a sensor 21 for detecting the molten metal, and a water-cooling zone 15 for cooling a casting after solidification under pressure.
