摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively detect CO and CO2 by adding Na2 CO3 to a P-type semiconductor in an amt. specified with respect to CuO. SOLUTION: A P-type member 11 is formed from a P-type semiconductor based on CuO and two Au electrodes 12, 13 are connected to the P-type member 11 to take out the change of electrical characteristics caused by the presence of gas to be inspected. A heater for overheating is provided to the rear surface of a ceramic substrate 14 and a gas sensor can be hreated by this heater. At a time of operation, voltage is applied across the Au electrodes 12, 13 and the change of the voltage, current or both of them between the Au electrodes 12, 13 by the presence of the gas to be inspected is detected. The addition amt. of an Na compd. is 1wt.%, or more, desirably, 1-40wt.%, further desirably, 1-20wt.%. of CuO in terms of Na2 CO3 .

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relatively reduce CO2 sensitivity to CO sensitivity and detect CO in exhaust gas with high selectivity by using tungstic acid or molybdic acid as Na compound. SOLUTION: A bulk 21 is formed by adding and mixing sodium salt of tungstic acid or molybdic acid to CuO powder after baking followed by baking. The bulk 21 is brought into contact with Au electrodes 22, 23 formed on an alumina base 24 to manufacture a gas sensor. The content of sodium salt of tungstic (molybdic) acid is preferably 0.5-23 (0.4-16) wt.% in terms of tungsten (molybdenum). When a fixed voltage is applied between the Au electrodes 22, 23 to detect the change of current by the presence of a gas to be detected, the sensitivity to CO2 is hardly observed, and CO can be detected with high selectivity.

摘要： PURPOSE:To detect a specific gas by constituting such an electric circuit that cancels the sensitivity against gases other than a specific gas by using two kinds of resistors having a semiconductor whose resistance value changes when it is brought into contact with a plurality of kinds of gases. CONSTITUTION:A gas sensor is provided with a resistor Ra which includes a P-type semiconductor whose resistance value is changed when being brought into contact with one kind of gas and a resistor Rb which includes a P-type semiconductor whose resistance value shows a similar characteristic to the resistor Ra and at the same time shows a different change in characteristics from the resistor Ra when the semiconductor is brought into contact with a specific gas. Further, the sensor is provided with an electric circuit in which the resistors Ra and Rb are connected in series so that the change in resistance value of the resistor Ra against gases other than a specific gas and the value of the resistor Rb may be cancelled. A voltmeter indicates a voltage difference between respective terminal voltages Va and Vb of the resistors Ra and Rb. Since the voltage difference can be made to become zero for gases other than the specific gas, the detection sensitivity against the specific gas is emphasized, thereby detecting the specific gas.

摘要： PURPOSE:To efficiently purify nitrogen oxide in waste combustion gas. CONSTITUTION:Nitrogen oxide in waste combustion gas is selectively reduced and purified by hydrocarbon under the presence of oxygen by using a selective reduction catalyst. In the method, the selective reduction catalytic layer is divided into >=2 in the flow direction of waste gas. Paraffin of >=3C or olefin of >=2C is introduced into the front flow sides of the respective catalytic layers as a selective reducing agent. Thereby the hydrocarbon being the selective reducing agent is made to low concentration with high denitrification effect in the whole region of the catalytic layer. The loadings of hydrocarbon are decreased and the degree of denitrification is enhanced.

By this constitution, the concn. of NOx in the recirculating exhaust gas can markedly be reduced and, therefore, NOx in exhaust gas can be finally reduced.
