    • PURPOSE:To avoid air-flow noise produced by a damper in semi-closed state by a method wherein an open limit-switch and a close limit-switch are provided to detect fully-open and fully-closed states of the damper, and the damper begins closing action from the fully-open state a specified time period after a lower fan motor stops. CONSTITUTION:An open limit switch 8 and a close limit switch 9 are provided to detect fully-open and fully-closed states of a damper. A controller, that controls operation of an air-conditioner, includes a selector 10, a damper motor output device 11, and fully-open and-closed state detectors 12 and 13. The selector 11 selects changeover from single operation of an upper fan to dual operation of both upper and lower fans. The damper motor output device 11 makes a damper motor 7 drive and output. The fully-open and -closed state detectors 12 and 13 detect fully-open and fully-closed states of the damper motor 7. As the damper motor 7 is started a specified time period after a lower fan motor 5 is stopped, the damper motor 7 is brought in operation after the lower fan motor 5 operates in a stop state and abnormal air flow noise in semi-closed state is avoided.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate abnormal or irregular sound of air blowing under a semi-closed state in an indoor device having two upper and lower fans by a method wherein a limiter for sensing a full-opened or a full-closed state of a damper for opening or closing a lower air blowing port is provided, and the lower fan motor is rotated after a predetermined period of time when the damper starts to open from its full-closed state. CONSTITUTION:An indoor device of an air conditioner has an upper fan 1 and a lower fan 4 driven by each of fan motors 2 and 5. It includes a heat exchanger 3. The lower air blowing port is provided with a damper 6 driven by a damper motor 7. It has further an opening limiter 8 and a closing limiter 9 for use in sensing a full-opened state or a full-closed state of the damper 6. Driving of the lower fan motor 5 is started after a predetermined time of starting operation of the damper 6 from its full-closed state to its full-opened state under its operation control. At this time, the driving is started at the first set speed which is set higher than the second set speed for normally driving the lower fan motor 5, and then the driving is carried out at the second set speed after a predetermined period of time.

      SOLUTION: This outdoor unit of the air conditioner includes: a partition plate 1 partitioning the blower room 4 storing a blower 3 and the compressor room 6; and an electric equipment box 8 facing to the blower room 4 and the compressor room 6 and storing electric equipment 7. The upper end of the partition plate 1 is bent toward the blower room 4 to form a flange part 1a provided with a cutout part 1b. The electric equipment box 8 has a recessed part with a ventilating hole 8b formed for discharging the air A warmed by the electric equipment 7 to the blower 3 side. The recessed part is formed in a portion where the flange part 1a and the electric equipment box 8 come into contact with each other so that the air A discharged from the ventilating hole 8b is discharged to the blower 3 side through the cutout part 1b, and the cutout part 1b and the ventilating hole 8b are formed so that among drops of water scattered by the operation of the blower 3, the drops entering the recessed part through the cutout part 1b collide with the wall surface of the recessed part.
