摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of electrolyte, increase the energy density of a secondary battery and decrease its weight and size by using electrolyte solution containing a restricted amount of an electrolyte so that part of the electrolyte deposits when electric discharge is practically completed and the whole of the electrolyte is dissolved when charging is practically completed. CONSTITUTION:In a secondary battery in which a doping or intercalation mechanism is utilized, electrolyte solution contains a restricted amount of an electrolyte so that a part of the electrolyte deposits when electric discharge is practically completed and the whole of the electrolyte is dissolved when charging is practically completed. For instance, a separator 4 made of a nonwoven polypropylene fabric acid interposed between a positive electrode 3 and a negative electrode 5 which consist of polyacetylene films and formed on current collectors 2 and 6, is impregnated with electrolyte consisting of pulverized LiClO4 powder and propylene carbonate. Here, the ratio of LiClO4 used as a compound for doping to propylene carbonate used as a solvent is adjusted as mentioned above, to form a secondary battery.

Polyethylene or polypropylene having good hot press bonding capability is preferable as the resin film 6, but polyester, polycarbonate, or nylon can be used by selecting a condition.

CONSTITUTION:A partition of a porous matter 10 is disposed on a peripheral part of a surface of a negative electrode 1 facing a positive electrode 5. The porous matter 10 is formed of only the peripheral part obtained by cutting off a central part in desired shapes of a square, a circle, or the like. A material of this matter 10 is made to be synthetic resin selected from polymers of an olefine group, a fluorine group, a silicon group, an epoxy group, a diene group, a vinyl group, an acrylic ester group, and the like. Porosity of this matter 10 is made smaller by 5% to 50% than a separator disposed between both the electrodes. Hence, a dendrite phenomenon can be dispersed uniformly over all the negative electrode and also the negative electrode can be prevented from being locally damaged.

CONSTITUTION:A mixture of conductive polymer, fluorine resin, and conductive metal is fixed on a current collector. The fluorine resin has the good effect on bonding of the conductive polymer to the current collector, and is relatively stable to various organic solvents. When the electrode is used for a secondary battery having nonaqueous solvent, the fluorine resin serving as binder does not dissolve in the solvent. In addition, the fluorine resin shows binding action by kneading with the conductive polymer without heating. Since the conductive polymer is not heated during kneading, melting or decomposition of the conduc tive polymer can be prevented.

The electrolyte solution in the maximum consumption state (finished state of charge) of the electrolyte does not contain the solid phase and it dissolves completely the electrolyte by which the conductivity of the electrolyte solution is 20% or more of the maximum conductivity, preferably 50% or more.

The conductive polymer positive electrode is combined with a negative electrode comprising alkali metal such as lithium and electrolyte obtained by dissolving lithium salt such as LiBF4 in aprotic solvent to form a secondary battery. Thereby, anion doping rate which affects energy density is increased, and charge-discharge cycle life is lengthened to increase practicality.

In such a way, as well as moderating a contraction produced in drying and preventing tearing off of the polyaniline from the electrode, a spreading process of the active substance over the electrode base is omitted, and such an electrode can be incorporated directly in the cell. Therefore, the manufacture is much easier and the service life of the cell can be improved.
