    • PURPOSE:To form the title thin film in high throughput at low cost by coating a glass substrate with an organic solvent solution of an organometallic complex followed by irradiating the resultant coated surface with pulse rays. CONSTITUTION:About 7.5wt.% of an organometallic complex, e.g., a metal alkoxide (e.g., titanium isopropoxide) is dissolved in ethylene glycol monoethyl ether followed by addition of ca. 1wt.% of nitric acid into a coating solution 2. Thence, a glass substrate 1 is coated with this solution 2 at a spinner turns of revolution of ca. 500-3000rpm followed by irradiating, for several minutes, the resultant coated surface with rays a with a lamp made into pulses through a chopper to promote the hydrolysis of the coating solution 2, thus obtaining the objective dielectric thin film 3. In the pulse ray irradiation, it can be con firmed by e.g., a thermocouple that the glass substrate 1 has been kept at low temperatures. By the above forming method, lens products, filters, etc., can be manufactured at low cost.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a highly durable coating by applying a solution, which is prepared by mixing the fine grains of predetermined transparent and electrically conductive oxides and mixture thereof into alcoholic solution with predetermined composition, onto the panel surface of a cathode-ray tube, then carrying out heat treatment thereof at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:An antistatic coating 2 formed on the panel surface of a cathode-ray tube 1 is formed in the following way. Fine transparent grains having electrical conductivity e.g., (a) SnO2, (b) In2O3, (c) Sb2O3, and mixture thereof, i.e. fine grains of any one of (a), (b), (a+b), (a+b+c), (a+c) and (b+c) are sufficiently well mixed into an alcoholic solution of alkyl silicate Si-(OR), (R: alkyl group) to produce a solution. While the cathode ray tube 1 is rotated at a speed of 100rpm with the panel surface upward, this solution is dropped on the panel surface and when the solution has been spread all over the surface, the rotating speed is increased to 500rpm to coat the surface thinly and uniformly with the solution, then, after heating and drying thereof at a temperature less than 200 deg.C, e.g., at 105 deg.C, for about 10min, burning is effected at 160 deg.C for 30min to form the antistatic coating 2.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate non-reflection processing on the surface of CRT by applying a coating onto the outside face of a plate glass while combining the thickness of a specific metal or a metal oxide film and a refractive index such that the lowest reflection can be achieved within predetermined wavelength range of a reflected light. CONSTITUTION:In a picture tube 1, a plate glass 4 is fixed through an organic adhesive 3 onto the surface 2' of a panel glass 2 and a complex layer 5 applied with non- reflection processing is formed onto the surface. Said layer 5 is formed by applying an organic silicate or an alcohol solution of alkoxide Si(OR)4 through a spinner onto the outer face of a glass 4, for example. Then it is burnt for predetermined time, and applied with hydrolysis and polymerization through the function of the water in the air or previously added water and an acid catalyst, then a thin transparent glass film mainly composed of SiO2 is applied. Assuming lambda0 is the wavelength of light and (n) is the refractive index of the thin film, the lowest reflection is achieved when (nd) is lambda0/4, thereby the thickness of the film is determined so as to satisfy said relation. In addition, Mg, Th, Ce, Al, Ti, Zr, La, Pr, Sb, Nd, or Zn may be employed in place of Si.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable cathode-ray tube with a picture easy to see while having a full non-glare effect by forming an SiO2 film while spraying Si(OR)4 followed by adding a processing to remove the surface layer part of said film. CONSTITUTION:A film 3 having minute unevenness of transparent SiO2 is formed on the outer surface 21 of the face plate 2 of a cathode-ray tube 1. Said film 3 is formed so as to cover an effective face of the fluorescent surface 4 formed inside the face plate 2. Said forming methode is as follows: Firstly, 1% of HNO3 is added to an ethanol solution of Si(OC2H5)4 as a catalyzer for being applied to the outer surface 21 of the face plate preheated up to about 40 deg.C by spraying with a spray nozzle in order to make the outer surface 21 coarse. Next, said cathode-ray tube 1 is given the heat treatment at about 150 deg.C to firmly bond the SiO2 film thereon. Thereafter, the whole surface of said film is evenly rubbed by a felt made of stainless steel.
