摘要： PURPOSE:To perform the alternating processing of a defective sector in a magnetic disk device which performs error correction without generating the rotation latency time of a disk. CONSTITUTION:Data read out from a magnetic disk 7 is written on a data buffer 116, and also, is sent to an ECC generation/detection circuit 115. When an error is detected at the ECC generation/detection circuit 115, an error correction circuit 117 performs an error correction operation, and sends the address of erroneous data and the erroneous data to a buffer control part 113. Also, a sector number and a data area number in which an error occurs are sent to a FIFO 111. The buffer control part 113 corrects the content of a data buffer 104. When the sector number and the data area number are stored in the FIFO 111, a drive control part 112 outputs an interruption signal 118 to a CPU 102. The CPU 102 records the number of times of occurrence of the error in the data area making correspond to the sector number. When the detected number of times of occurrence of the error exceeds a fixed value. the re-allocation of the data area is performed.

Thus, an area occupied by the ID information can be decreased and the capacity able to be used by the user can be increased.
