    • PURPOSE:To enhance the resistance against corrosive cracking due to stresses in a welded part by heating the areas in the neighborhood of the welded part to allow it to attain the high temp. generated in the stress exceeding the yield point, rapidly cooling the inner and outer surfaces with a reactor water, and converting the high tensile residual stresses into compressive stresses. CONSTITUTION:Areas around a welded part 3 including the heat affected zones 6c, 6s of a control rod guide pipe 4 and a stab tube 2 are high temp. heated locally from inside of the guide pipe 4. At the same time as attainment of the high temp., cooling waters 8a, 8s are spouted which use the reactor water from a cooling piece 7s on the outer side and a cooling coil of a heating/cooling piece 5 on the inner surface so that these surfaces are rapidly cooled simultaneously. Accordingly these areas undergo averaging due to redistribution of initial residual stresses and drop of the yield point of the material owing to the high temp. heating, and the residual stresses are dropped. At a stage on the way of this simultaneous rapid cooling of the inner and outer surfaces, compressive stresses are generated in the central part across the plate thickness while tensile stresses are generated at the inner and outer surfaces, and thus yielding is generated. Owing to this tensile yielding at the inner and outer surfaces, compressive stresses remain by contrast after complete cooling. That is, the tensile residual stresses are converted into compressive stresses, which enhances the resistance against corrosive cracking owing to stresses.

    • PURPOSE:To withstand corrosion by low-temp. sensitizing and to prevent the stress corrosion racking during an operation period by thermally spraying a highly corrosion resistant alloy at a low temp. on the surface of an Fe- and Ni-based alloy member and irradiating the resulted film with a laser, thereby reforming the film. CONSTITUTION:The highly corrosion resistant alloy consisting of the Fe- and Ni-base alloy is thermally sprayed by a low-temp. thermal spraying device 13 on the surface of a member 10 consisting of the Fe- and Ni-base alloy, such as structural members of an atomic power plant deteriorated with age to form the low-temp. thermally sprayed film 12. This film 12 is thermally sprayed with a laser by a laser irradiation device 15 to melt the surface part. This molten part is thereafter resolidified at 10 to 10 deg. C/S cooling rate. The surface reformed layer 14 consisting of a molten and solidified layer of a cell structure having the inter-cell spacing in a 0.2 to 2.0mum range is formed in this way. The structure in the atomic reactor, etc., are repaired in this way and the stress corrosion resistance cracking in weld heat affected zones is improved.
