摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time required for mutual authentication in a system in which mutual authentication is required among a plurality of devices. SOLUTION: A host device or a client device to be mutually authenticated is provided with a means for determining whether or not a session key held by each of them required in simple mutual authentication processing in which only a short a time is required for mutual authentication is valid for the other device which is trying to perform mutual authentication processing; and a means for transferring information required for achieving the means. The host device performs high speed simple mutual authentication processing when determined that the session key is valid, and perform normal mutual authentication processing in the other case. A client device performs simple mutual authentication processing when determined that the session key is valid, and replies an abnormal end to the host device without performing any simple mutual authentication processing in the other case. Also, when plural magnetic disk is loaded in the data recording and reproducing device and one magnetic disk device is continuously operated at some decided temperature and some decided time or more, the magnetic disk device to be operated can be switched to the other.

Concerning entries to be paired on the tag memory 610 and the data memory 611, the same entry is accessed in a memory 613 rehardlessly of which entry is first accessed. Thus, the hardware amount required for mounting is reduced corresponding to the number of states to be adopted for a rehash flag and a valid flag in column associative mapping. Besides, even concerning the read request of arbitrary data, at the time point of access to the 1st entry, it can be known whether the 2nd entry exists or not, and average cache access time is shortened.
