SOLUTION: This method for producing an azo pigment represented by general formula (1) includes: a step of preparing a solution (A) including an azo compound represented by general formula (1) and an acid or a base or a good solvent including an acid or a base; and a step of precipitating the azo pigment by mixing the solution (A) with a poor solvent, wherein G is a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group, an acyl group, an aliphatic oxycarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group, an aliphatic sulfonyl group, or an arylsulfonyl group.
