    • PURPOSE:To smooth the boundary between an underlying film consisting of a transparent dielectric and a recording film and to improve the sensitivity (recording speed) of an optical recording medium by forming the underlying film on a substrate, then subjecting the underlying film to a heat treatment at and for a specific temp. and time and forming the optical recording film on the underlying film. CONSTITUTION:The transparent dielectric is used for the material of the underlying film of the recording film to be formed on the substrate and is exemplified by CeO2, SnO2, TiO2, ZnS, etc., having a high refractive index. After the underlying film is formed by a vacuum film forming method such as sputtering or vapor deposition method, the underlying film is subjected to the heating treatment for 5-200min at the temp. in a 60-200 deg.C range and the recording film is formed on the underlying film; further, the protective film is formed thereon. The ruggedness on the surface is thereby smoothed and the surface film is removed, by which the impurities in the film are removed and the factors to prohibit the migration of the atoms or molecules in the recording film are decreased. As a result, the speed of recording (erasure) is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration and deformation of a substrate occurring in the heat of a laser beam and to remarkably improve an information rewriting characteristic by using the substrate consisting of a photosensitive resin layer and heat resistant base body. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive resin layer 2 is formed on the glass base body 1 which is the heat resistant base body to constitute the substrate 3 for an optical disk. Optical guide grooves are formed on the photosensitive resin layer 2 and an optical recording medium film 4 is formed thereon. A protective film 5 is formed on the optical recording medium 4. The photosensitive resin is the resin cured by the irradiation of UV rays, etc., and is, for example, preferably an acrylic resin. The material to constitute the optical recording medium film is an alloy of elements of >=2 components to exhibit an eutectic phenomenon or a material having a compd. compsn. and may not only be a binary comps. such as, for example, In-Sb or Al-Ca but also be ternary and quaternary compsn. The protective film to be formed on the optical recording medium film is of an org. high-polymer material, oxide, nitride, etc. which do not adversely affect the optical recording medium.

    • PURPOSE:To make possible erasing and recording at a high speed and the stable holding of information for a long period of time by irradiating two kinds of light pulses having different powers and time intervals to a thin film consists of the assem blage of the fine crystals having regular atomic configuration and in which >=2 stable states having a difference in optical characteristic exist. CONSTITUTION:The film for recording consists of a material having the compsn. which consists of a combination of >=2 components of elements exhibiting an eutectic state and is expressed as the mixture composed of the pure elements or compds. adjacent to the eutectic point on the equil. diagram thereof. The film right after the preparation consists of the assemblage of the extremely fine crystals in the amorphous film in which the elements X and Y are mixed in atomic order. The micro-part of the film is melted when the micro-part of the film is heated by irradiating the strong laser light converged to about 1mum diameter to such film. The amorphous or fine crystal state in which the elements X, Y are mixed in the part except the part irradiated with the light, designated as 1', the fine crystal of X as 2', the Y crystal mixed with the X fine crystal as 3' and the mixed state of the fine crystals of the X element and Y element contg. much X element as 4' can be transformed to each other.
