    • PURPOSE:To detect contact position coordinates even with the quick touch by processing an impedance measurement and a position coordinate operation to use the impedance measured value during the previous contact in parallel. CONSTITUTION:A pair or above of terminals opposite to a resistance film is provided at a touch panel 18, the impedance viewed from one side terminal and the impedance viewed from other side terminal are measured by a microcomputer 44 and this is temporarily stored. The microcomputer 44 reads the impedance value measured before the contact of the instructed matter to the touch panel 18 and during the previous contact, from a memory at the idle time during the impedance measurement, operates the contact position coordinates and outputs the arithmetic result. Thus, since the impedance measurement and the output of the position coordinate operation and the arithmetic result of the previous contact are processed in parallel, the position coordinates of the quick touch can be also detected.

CONSTITUTION:A touch panel 1 is provided with terminals along one pair of first and second sides facing each other and the other pair of third and fourth sides facing each other, and impedances CL1, CR1, CU1, CD1, CR2, CL2, CD2 and CU2 viewed from terminals of first, second, third, fourth, second, first, fourth, and third sides are repeatedly measured in this order by an impedance measuring means 2. A measurement abnormality discriminating means 3 discriminates measurement abnormality if an absolute value Z of the difference between the sum of measured impedances viewed from terminals of first and second sides and that viewed from terminals of third and fourth sides is larger than a set value. Thus, the change of the impedance measurement condition is evaluated.
