    • NEW MATERIAL:A polyprenyl compound shown by the formula I (X is -CH
      2 OH-, or -COOH).
      EXAMPLE: 4-(15-Carboxy-3,7,11-trimethyl-6,10,14-hexadecatrienoyl)morpholine.
      USE: A remedy for hepatic diseases. Activating liver function, having saccarometabolism, detoxication action, bile forming and secretive action, etc.
      PREPARATION: For example, N-(3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-6,10-14-hexadecatrienoyl)morpholine shown by the formula II is epoxidized to give a compound shown by the formula III, which is oxidized with HIO
      4 , etc. in a solvent to give an aldehyde shown by the formula IV. This compound is reacted with a Witting reagent to give a compound shown by the formula V, which is hydrolyzed to give a compound shown by the formula I where X is -COOH. This compound is reduced to give the compound shown by the formula I where X is -CH
      2 OH.
