    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system which is capable of assessing arteriosclerosis by rapidly measuring a variation of pulse wave propagation velocities depending on the blood pressure levels. SOLUTION: The arteriosclerotic assessment system consists of a means 102 for continually determining blood pressure levels which continually determines monitoring blood pressures MBP according to pressure pulse waves to be detected by a pressure pulse wave sensor 70, a means 106 for obtaining an information of pulse wave propagation velocities to calculate pulse wave propagation velocities and 2-dimensional graphs indicating monitoring blood pressure axes and pulse wave propagation velocities displayed on an indicator 86, where an outputting means 108 that shows a mark on a position to be decided depending on the monitoring blood pressure level and the pulse wave propagation velocity PWV is provided, and when the arteriosclerotic assessment device is used in a duration of lowered blood pressures immediately after an exercise load is given to a patient, a variation of pulse wave propagation velocities PWV in relation to the monitoring blood pressure MBP can be promtly determined from a variation tendency of the mark to be indicated on the two-dimensional graph. Thus, rapid diagnosis of arteriosclerosis is avalable.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood pressure determining apparatus with which a highest blood pressure value is determined without giving much pain to a patient. SOLUTION: An average blood pressure value BP (MEAN) is determined based on a cuff pulse wave CW detected in the process of slowly raising cuff pressure Pc. when determining the average blood pressure value BP (MEAN), the cuff pressure Pc is lowered to a pulse wave detection pressure PM lower than a lowest blood pressure value BP (DIA) to detect the cuff pulse wave CW by the pulse wave detection pressure PM to determine the lowest pulse wave value Imin, an area centroid pulse wave value Ig and the highest pulse wave value Imax of the cuff pulse wave. Then, based on the fact that the lowest pulse wave value Imin, the area centroid pulse wave value Ig and the highest pulse wave value Imax correspond respectively to the lowest blood pressure value BP (DIA)m, the average blood pressure value BP (MEAN) and a highest blood pressure value BP (SYS), the highest blood pressure value BP (SYS) is determined from formula 1. (formula 1) (Imax-Imin):(Ig-Imin)= BP(SYS)-BP(DIA)}: BP(MEAN)-BP(DIA)}.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dialyzer which automatically controls dewatering velocity so as to perform efficient dewatering without rapid dropping of the blood pressure of a patient.
SOLUTION: A blood pressure variation related information detection means 110 detects a plurality of kinds of information related with blood pressure variation giving influence to the blood pressure variation (blood pressure dropping) of the patient in the middle of dialysis. A dewatering velocity control means 108 controls the dewatering velocity of the dialyzer 70 by a previously stored control formula, that is an assessment formula based on the plurality of kinds of information related with the blood pressure variation. Thus, the dewatering velocity is controlled automatically so as to perform efficient dewatering without rapid dropping of the blood pressure of the patient. Thus the adjusting operation of the dewatering velocity corresponding to the state of the patient by medical expert/specialists such as doctors is reduced and a smaller number of the medical expert/specialists are required than those in the case of a conventional device. Thus, dialysis equipment can easily be increased and medical costs for analysis can be reduced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device of information on a pulse wave propagation speed capable of measuring pulse wave propagation speed information only by installing one heartbeat synchronizing signal detecting device.
SOLUTION: The peak pi of a traveling wave component wi and the peak pr of a reflected wave component wr of a carotid pulse wc detected by a pressure pulse wave detecting probe are determined, and a time difference between the peak pi of the traveling wave component wi and the peak pr of the reflected wave component wr is calculated as pulse wave propagation time DT (sec). The pulse wave propagation time DT is subjected in a formula 1 to obtain a pulse wave propagation speed PWV (m/sec); (formula 1) PWV=L/DT (wherein L(m) is a distance reaching a pulse wave detecting part via a reflection point positioned in the vicinity of the iliatic artery from an aortic valve). Thus, the pulse wave propagation speed PWV can be calculated only by installing one pressure pulse wave detecting probe (the heartbeat synchronizing signal detecting device).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arterial sclerosis evaluating device capable of easily evaluating arterial sclerosis. SOLUTION: The actual age A of an organism and the actual lowest blood pressure value BPDIA measured by a blood pressure measuring means 80 are substituted in a preset normal pulse wave propagation speed calculating expression by a normal pulse wave propagation speed information calculating means 90 to calculate a normal pulse wave propagation speed PWVno in the age A and the lowest blood pressure value BPDIA when the organism is normal to calculate an actual pulse wave propagation speed PWVac on the basis of an actually measured pulse wave by an actual pulse wave propagation speed information calculating means 88 to calculate a difference ΔPWV(=PWVac-PWVno) between the actual pulse wave propagation speed PWVac and the normal pulse wave propagation speed PWVno as an arterial sclerosis index Ia by an arterial sclerosis index calculating means 92. Since the actual pulse wave propagation speed PWVac becomes a value separate from the normal pulse wave propagation speed PWVno as arterial sclerosis makes progress on the organism, even an unexperienced person can easily evaluate the arterial sclerosis by the arterial sclerosis index Ia calculated as the difference ΔPWV between the actual pulse wave propagation speed PWVac and the normal pulse wave propagation speed PWVno.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sphygmomanometer to acquire a precise value of blood pressure. SOLUTION: A second amplitude A2 detected by a pressure pulse wave detecting device 45 is corrected by an amplitude correcting means 68 so that the second amplitude A2 and a first amplitude A1 generated in a first rubber pouch 18 in the section where the blood flow is blocked in an artery 21 of the part where a cuff 12 is wound are almost equal to each other, and the difference ΔA in amplitude between the amplitude A2-1 corrected by the amplitude correcting means 68 and the first amplitude A1 generated in the first rubber pouch 18 is calculated by an amplitude difference calculating means 70. Therefore, the difference ΔA in amplitude clearly indicates the start-up point. Then a blood pressure value BP of a subject is determined by a blood pressure determining means 72 based on the variation of the difference ΔA in amplitude calculated by the amplitude difference calculating means 70, so that a precise blood pressure value can be acquired.
