    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a foreign matter such as dust from sticking to a printing section during a supplying or replacing operation for a printing paper in a thermal printer having the openable printing section. SOLUTION: The thermal printer 10 comprises an outer box 14 that supports a thermal head 12 and an inner box 16 that is combined with the outer box 14 in a drawable condition and supports a platen 18. The platen 18 is moved between an operational position where a printing paper P is nipped by the platen and the thermal head 12 after the outer box 14 is moved with respect to the inner box 14 and a non-operational position where the platen 18 is separated from the thermal head 12 and the printing paper P is released therefrom. A top end wall 22 of the outer box 14 that suspends and supports the thermal head 12 isolates the thermal head 12 from the external environment of the printer by cooperating with a rear end side wall 44 of the inner box 16 when the platen 18 is in the non-operational position. A cover member 46 which can be rotated along the outer periphery face of the platen 18 isolates the platen 18 in the non-operational position from the external environment.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve contact switching life by reducing tear and wear of the contact pair by suppressing the expansion of overall dimensions and the increase of electromagnetic suction force to the armature in an electromagnetic relay. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic relay 10 comprises a base 12, an electromagnet 14 incorporated in the base 12, a movable contact point 16 to be driven by the electromagnet 14 and a fixed contact point 18 arranged opposed to the movable contact point 16 capable of contacting with the movable contact point 16. The fixed contact point 18 comprises a first and second fixed contact points 42, 44 which are arranged opposed to the first and second movable contact points 34, 36 of the movable contact point 16 capable of contacting with each of them. The first fixed contact point 42 is provided at the fixed terminal member 46 which does not in substance deform by the pressing force received from the first movable contact point 34 at the contact switch on and holds its own position coping with the pressing force. The second fixed contact point 44 is provided at the fixed spring member 48 which bends elastically by the pressing force received from the second movable contact point 36 at the contact switch on and displaces elastically by the pressing force.
