    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting foreign matter in a paper money path, having good analyticity, and capable of detecting the presence of foreign matter, such as a thin line of smaller diameter.SOLUTION: The device 20 for detecting foreign matter in a paper money path is placed in a paper money testing machine and used to detect whether foreign matter is present in a paper money path 16 of the paper money testing machine. The paper money path 16 includes a top side 161, a bottom side 162, and a first side 163 and a second side 164 facing each other left and right; the device 20 for detecting foreign matter in the paper money path includes a laser light source 22, a first photosensor 24 and a second photosensor 26. The second photosensor 26 is installed onto either the top side 161 or the bottom side 162. Thereby, when foreign matter is present in the paper money path 16, the intensity of synchronous laser beam received by the first photosensor 24 is affected by shielding of the foreign matter and attenuated, while the second photosensor 26 detects a part of the synchronous laser beam either reflected, refracted, diffracted or scattered through the foreign matter.

      SOLUTION: In the device composed of it body 1 and an electromagnetic valve module 2, a sliding movement groove 111, through wich a coin 4 moves, is disposed on a passage 11 rear side bottom part of the body 1; a return passage 112 from which the coin 4 is discharged is disposed on the front side of the groove 111; an electromagnetic valve 21 of the module 2 and a gate 22 elongating and contracting by the valve 21 are disposed, respectively, on both sides of the groove 111; a penetration groove 223 is disposed on a base part 221 of the gate 22; an anti-theft plate 225 extends upward on a sidewall which is adjacent to the passage 112 of the groove 223; and the coin 4 is stored, by passing through the groove 223 of the gate 22. When a perpetrator attempts to insert an elastic plate or another tool from the passage 112, since the rearward of the passage 112 is blocked by the anti-theft plate 225, entry of the elastic plate is blocked and the theft is prevented.
