    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arteriosclerosis evaluation apparatus, evaluating the arteriosclerosis simply as much as possible. SOLUTION: This arteriosclerosis evaluating apparatus 10 includes: an arteriosclerosis evaluating means 46 (S7, S8, S9, S10) for evaluating the arteriosclerosis of a subject according to the relationship between the pressure difference ΔP between the inside and outside of artery of the subject and the pulsation amplitude AM of the artery in the state where the pressure difference ΔP between the inside and outside of the artery of the subject is balanced, whereby the arteriosclerosis can be evaluated simply as much as possible using a characteristic curve 58 showing the corresponding relationship between the pressure difference ΔP between the inside and outside of the artery and the pulsation amplitude AM calculated from the pressing pressure P C by a cuff 12 wound around a designated region of the subject and the pulsation of the artery. • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive vascular endothelial function inspecting apparatus with which a vascular endothelial function is highly reliably inspected without requiring skill in the inspection. SOLUTION: An avascularization instrument performs avascularization in a left arm, and calculates a pulse wave transmission time from the heart to a right wrist, i.e., a right pulse wave transmission time PCT R and a left pulse wave transmission time PCT L from the heart to a left wrist respectively at each beat from five minutes before to an avascularization start time till five minutes after an avascularization release time. Then the right pulse wave transmission time PCT R is subtracted from the left pulse wave transmission time PCT L , so as to calculate a transmission time difference ΔPCT at each beat. The influence of change in blood pressure at each beat, the number of the beats, and of the other systemic factors is removed in the calculated transmission time differences ΔPCT, so that the change after the avascularization release with respect to a state before avascularization is made to be distinct. Consequently, the vascular endothelial function is inspected with high reliability by inspecting the function on the basis of the transmission time differences ΔPCT. Besides, the measurement of the pulse wave transmission time does not require skill, and also the apparatus is provided at a low cost. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
