At least one core 11 of the first multi-core fiber member 10 and at least one core 21 of the second multi-core fiber member 20 out of the plurality of cores 11 of the first multi-core fiber member 10 and the plurality of cores 21 of the second multi-core fiber member 20 whose core end faces are connected by one-to-one have different effective core areas. An open end face OEF1 of the core 11 having a larger effective core area is made into a surface on which light is incident.
