    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pearlescent pigment having uniform particle size and thickness of a coating layer, exhibiting remarkable luster and color saturation and reactive in a short time at normal temperature. SOLUTION: The method for producing a pearlescent pigment by a precipitation process comprises a step to mix mica with distilled water in a reaction vessel and stir the mixture to produce a slurry, a step to produce an aqueous solution of a titanium salt and an aqueous solution of ammonium bicarbonate (NH 4 HCO 3 ) as a precipitant, a step to separately pour the titanium salt solution and the ammonium bicarbonate solution to the slurry under stirring and react the substances at normal temperature, and a step to subject the formed precipitate to solid-liquid centrifugal separation, wash the solid with distilled water and calcine the washed material after drying.
