摘要： PURPOSE:To produce a thermal recording material not generating the color development of a background due to the contact with an org. solvent and the fading of an image by providing a thermal color forming layer containing a leuco dye and a developer represented by a specific general formula on a support. CONSTITUTION:A leuco dye and at least one kind of a compd. (developer) represented by one of formulae I, II, III (wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group) are dispersed in an aqueous medium along with a water-soluble binder to prepare a coating solution for a thermal color forming layer. This coating solution is applied to a support such as paper, synthetic paper or a plastic sheet and dried to form the thermal color forming layer to produce a thermal recording material. As an embodiment of the leuco dye to be used, there are triphenylmethane, fluorane, phenothiazine and auramine type leuco compds. Further, various hot-melt substances can be used in the thermal color forming layer as a sensitivity enhancer if necessary.

SOLUTION: In regard to the reversible thermal coloring composition utilizing a coloring reaction between an electron-donating color developing compound and an electron accepting compound, a compound expressed by general formula 1 is contained as a color extinction accelerator in the composition. In formula 1, X denotes a bivalent group containing at least one or more C=O and R denotes a bivalent group constituted of a hydrocarbon and has at least one or more groups which branch from a hydrocarbon group constituting a cyclic structure containing X and are expressed by formula 2: -(R1 )m-Y-R2 , while n denotes 1 or 2, and R and X that are repeated when n is 2 may be identical or different. In formula 2, Y denotes a bivalent group constituted of a hetero atom, R1 a bivalent 1-11C aliphatic hydrocarbon group and R2 a 1-22C aliphatic hydrocarbon group, and m denotes 0 or 1.
