    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a DC voltage quickly after an instantaneous service interruption by a method wherein, if the DC voltage drops by the instantaneous interruption, the gate blocking of the PWM signal of a converter is performed and, if a power supply voltage is recovered, the pulse width control of the gate group of the converter is performed. SOLUTION: If a service interruption detector 21 is operated by an instantaneous service interruption and a DC voltage Ed drops below a predetermined value, a gate blocking judging device 25 is operated and a switching instruction SW1 is blocked. On the other hand, if a power supply is recovered from the interruption, a recovery detector 22 is operated and the DC voltage Ed rises above the predetermined value, a DC voltage detector 24 is operated and a gate deblocking judging device 26 is operated for deblocking. Further, if, by the recovery of the power supply, the output of the recovery detector 22 is inputted to a gate pulse judging device 29 to turn on the gate, the output of a pulse generator 28 is given to a gate controller 30 and, in accordance with the pulse command, the pulse width control of the P-type switching device group or the N-type switching device group is performed. As a result, the DC voltage can be recovered quickly.

    • PURPOSE: To continue stable control during the period during which an excessively large current flows and thereafter by not breaking the electric current of the same phase as that in which an electric current larger than the ability of a breaking current flows and correcting the gate pulse command of gate pulses of another phase based on the gate pulses. CONSTITUTION: The absolute value circuit 104 of a gate drive circuit 10 converts a current detecting value I into an absolute current value signal and a comparator 103 outputs the gate pulse holding signal (HOLD) of '1' when the absolute current value signal is larger than a breaking current level signal LV. When the HOLD becomes '1', a hold circuit 101 holds the output immediately before the HOLD becomes '1' and a gate pulse signal G does not change even when a gate pulse command S which is an input signal changes. During the period during which a gate pulse command SU is different from a gate pulse signal GU, the command SH is changed by stopping the updating of the command SU and the gate pulse signal G of another phase which is not controlled by a gate pulse holding signal HOLDU is corrected.

    • PURPOSE:To realize the miniaturization of a gate driver and the conservation of power by parallel-connecting DC power supply and auxiliary power supply for supplying power to respective gate drive circuits in a power converter formed by the series connection of a plurality of self-extinction of arc-type semiconductor switching elements. CONSTITUTION:When the title apparatus is put into operation in a three-phase voltage-type inverter, a plurality of self-extinction of arc-type semiconductor switching elements, e.g. GTOs, are respectively connected in series with six arms 101-106. That is, n GTOs 1a-1n are serially connected with respective arms (only the U-phase positive-side arm 101 is specified in the drawing) and peripheral circuits 40a-40n annexed to respective GTOs are provided with regenerating circuits 10a with output sides connected with both ends of smoothing capacitors 3a, DC-DC converters 30, gate drive circuits 12a, etc., and auxiliary power supplies 11 such as batteries are connected with the input terminals of the gate drive circuits 12a. Further, a plurality of smoothing capacitors 3a are connected in series between the positive side terminal P and negative side terminal N of the DC power supply and the intermediate point E is earthed.
