    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for bonding a lining to a metallic base member which is environmentally friendly without the use of an organic solvent and stabilized in bonding quality, and has a rust preventing force equal to or larger than that of a conventional method.
      SOLUTION: In a brake member having a lining bonded to a metallic base member, the metallic base member has a chemical conversion coating applied on the surface thereof and a ceramic coating layer formed on the chemical conversion coating which has been formed by being dripped into a ceramic precursor solution. The lining is bonded to the ceramic coating layer by heating under pressure. The method for bonding a lining to a metallic base member comprises steps of degreasing, cleaning and acid-washing the surface of the metallic base member and then forming a chemical conversion coating thereon, dipping the metallic base member having the chemical conversion coating formed thereon in a ceramic precursor solution to effect ceramic coating, and bonding the dried lining to the metallic base member by heating and pressure.
