    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a V-belt type continuously variable transmission, which can increase the amount of variation in an effective diameter of a variable pulley.
      SOLUTION: The continuously variable transmission uses a driving pulley (4) and a V-belt (15) to transmit a drive force of one rotating shaft to the other rotating shaft. The driving pulley (4) is equipped with a fixed pulley piece (8) fixed on the rotating shaft (3), and a movable pulley piece (9) fitted so as to move back and forth along the rotating shaft (3) toward the fixed pulley piece (8). A spacing between the fixed pulley piece (8) and the movable pulley piece (9) is adjusted with a transmission operating means. The fixed pulley piece (8) and the movable pulley piece (9) have friction transmission surfaces (82, 92) on which the driving V-belt (15) is wounded, respectively. On the respective friction transmission surfaces (82, 92), storage parts (83, 93) and the insertion parts (82a, 92a) are alternatively provided in a circumferential direction so as to mesh with each other by moving the movable pulley piece (9) to the fixed pulley piece (8) side.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unitize a transmission line from an engine to a differential device on a unit system and lessen the axial length of a power train coupled with the engine without significant dimensional increase in the radial direction.
      SOLUTION: The primary pulley 24 of a V-belt type continuously variable transmission 22 to be fed with the rotation of the engine 21 is coupled directly with the output shaft 23 of the engine and installed coaxially directly behind the tail of the engine, while the secondary pulley 25 of the continuously variable transmission 22 is installed in a plane perpendicular to the axis where the pulley 24 is also located. A forward-reverse changeover mechanism 29, a reduction gear set 30, and the differential device 31 are installed as arranged one after another in the engine axial direction from the pulley 25 toward the forefront of the engine 21. The mechanism 29 is installed coaxially with the pulley 25, and the gear set 30 is formed from a drive gear 30a arranged coaxially with the mechanism 29 and a driven gear 30b meshed with the drive gear 30a below it. The differential device 31 transmits the decelerative rotation from the gear set 30 in such a way as distributed to the left 32L and the right front wheel 32R, and the driving coupling between the gear set 30 and the differential device 31 is generated by a final drive gear set 34.
