    • PURPOSE:To produce a coagulated latex of a wide softening point range, by spraying a polymer latex and a coagulant into a coagulation chamber to which superheated steam is being introduced, thereby coagulating the latex, collecting the produced coagulated particles in water flowing down along the side wall and the bottom surface. CONSTITUTION:A liquid film 4a of water or an organic solvent is formed by means for distributing a flowing liquid in such a manner that the entire surface of the side wall 1a of the coagulation chamber 1 is covered with the film, and this liquid film is allowed to flow down along the side wall 1a. At the same time, superheated steam is introduced through an inlet 9 into the chamber 1, and the chamber is evacuated by suction means 11 so that the pressure of the upper portion of the chamber 1 is controlled at approximately the atmospheric pressure. Then, a polymer latex fed through a feed pipe 16 is divided into liquid drops of a suitable diameter and dispersed by spray means 2 and, at the same tiem, a coagulant is sprayed through spray means 3 and dispersed in the form of gas or mist, whereby the iquid drops of the polymer latex are contacted with the gas or mist-form coagulant in the space to heat and coagulate the latex. The coagulated particles together with the flowing liquid is separated from the gas phase in a gas-liquid contact portion 6 and passes through a receiving part 7, discharge port 8 and discharge line 12 to a receiving tank 13 where the coagulated particles are separated.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain a supply tube capable of preventing the adherence of scale and also clogging due to the coagulation of polymer latex, by providing a tube diameter enough to obtain more than a specific value of shearing stress on the inner wall of the tube and also a buffing finish of a specific degree on the inner surface.
      CONSTITUTION: In a latex manufacturing apparatus in which polymer latex is dispersed in droplets into an atmosphere containing a cogulant by means of a sprayer, a latex supply tube through which the polymer latex is supplied to the sprayer has a diameter enough to give a shearing stress of 100g/cm.sec
      2 or more to the inner wall of the tube and also a buffing finish corresponding to at least one using a No.200 buff for the inner surface. Thus, the adherence of scale to the inner wall of the supply tube and also clogging of the tube can be pevented. If a water pipe is connected to the supply tube and water is automatically switched to the latex at the beginning of latex supply, or the latex is automatically switched to water at the time of latex supply stoppage, clogging trouble due to coagulation of the latex in the supply tube and the sprayer can be avoided, and therefore, after the downtime of operation, coating operation can be soon started.
