    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methods for controlling an alarm state, such as volume, based on the presence or absence of a caregiver (15) in a patient's room (14). SOLUTION: More specifically, a local sound producing device (10) provides an audible alarm within a room (14) when a caregiver (15) is in the room (14), while a remote sound producing device (20) provides an audible alarm external of the room (14) when the caregiver (15) is not in the room (14). Accordingly, volume levels of the sound producing devices (10, 20) depend on the sensed presence or absence of the caregiver (15) within the room (14). For example, when the caregiver (15) leaves the room (14), the local sound producing device (10) is deactivated and/or the remote sound producing device (20) is activated.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a status display device configured for use in an X-ray system.
      SOLUTION: This status displaying device 180 includes: an audio receiver 150; a processor 155; a tone generator 140; and an adjustment mechanism 160. The audio receiver is configured and disposed to collect audio information surrounding the X-ray system 100. The processor is coupled to the audio receiver and receiving a signal representing the collected audio information. The tone generator is coupled and responsive to the processor and is configured to generate an audio tone in response to a defined status of the X-ray system. The adjustment mechanism is coupled to the tone generator and the processor and dynamically develops a set of acoustic characteristics that cause the audio tone to be distinguishable from the collected audio information.
