    • PURPOSE:To easily manufacture the sintered material having excellent mechanical characteristics with good productive efficiency by adding specified amounts of graphite powder and a lubricant to the powder of an alloy having a specified compsn. constituted of Mo, Cr, Mn and Fe, subjecting it to compacting and thereafter executing sintering under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:By weight, 0.8 to 1.4% graphite powder having 200 to 350m /g specific surface area and 4 to 10mum average grain size is added to the powder of an alloy contg. 0.3 to 1.0% Mo, 0.7 to 1.2% Cr, 0.6 to 1.0% Mn and the balance substantial Fe, to which a lubricant for compacting is furthermore added by 0.5 to 1.5%, and uniform mixing is executed. The mixed powder is compacted into a prescribed shape of >=6.6g/cm density. The green compact is sintered. At this time, the state of a sintering atmospheric gas is regulated to the one contg. a reducing gas essentially consisting of an inert gas and in which the partial pressure of the reducing gas is kept >=1000 times higher than that of water. Moreover, the sintering is executed in such a manner that the green compact is heated to 1370 to 1423K in the above atmospheric gas, is held for 1800 to 3000S and is thereafter cooled at 600 to 1500K/H rate. In this way, the sintered material of high quality can be obtd. by normal sintering at a relatively low temp.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a high-strength sintered material at a relatively low temp. by adding and mixing sintering activating powder which is formed by adding an adequate ratio of carbon to approximately the same compsn. as the compsn. of ferrous alloy powder to and with said ferrous alloy powder and molding the powder mixture then sintering the molding. CONSTITUTION:The sintering activating powder which is formed by adding 0.5-7.0% C to the same compsn. as the compsn. of the ferrous alloy powder or the compsn. approximate thereto is added and mixed to and with the ferrous alloy powder. The above-mentioned sintering activating powder is obtd. by, for example, a water atomization method, etc., and fine-grained powder sized about -100 mesh is preferably used. The above-mentioned powder mixture is then molded and sintered. The sintering is accelerated by the sintering activating powder, by which the high-strength sintered material is obtd. The above- mentioned material is preferably subjected to a heat treatment after sintering to have the higher strength. The heat treatment is adequately executed by a hardening and tempering treatment or isothermal transformation treatment.
