    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to continuously anneal a soft cold rolled steel plate for drawing with excellent cold moldability and a high tensile cold rolled steel plate by the same apparatus through a mechanism wherein a gas jet cooling portion and a water cooling portion are provided together to a cooling mechanism within a continuous annealing apparatus of a steel plate and these portions are used by switching appropriately. CONSTITUTION:After a steel plate S is passed through a heating furnace 8 and a homogenously heating furnace 9 to heat said steel plate to about A1 transformation point, said steel plate S is passed through a gas jet cooling portion 10, a water cooling portion 11 to be cooled and entered into a water cooling apparatus 20, a drying apparatus 21 through a reheating furnace 16, an over ageing treatment zone 17, a gas cooling zone 18, thereafter passed through a skin pass machine 22 and wound on a reel 27. In this case, in annealing a high tensile steel plate, said steel plate is passed through the gas jet cooling portion 10 and the water cooling portion 11 and, in case of annealing a soft steel plate for drawing, said steel plate is cooled only by the gas jet cooling after cooling water within the water cooling chamber 12 is exhausted by operating a valve and said chamber 12 is filled by a gaseous cooling medium to stop the water cooling. The exhausted cooling water is transferred to a warm water pit and used by circulating when a high tensile steel plate is annealed.

    • PURPOSE:A high temperature strip advancing at a given velocity is contactually rotated by a rotating drum in which cooling water is circulated, whereby the strip is rapidly cooled at a desired cooling temperature by means of simple apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Cooling water is fed into the rotating drum 1 from one side and discharged from the other side. A high temperature strip 2 flowing at a given velocity is contiguously wound on the rotating drum 1 and rapidly cooled. The cooling rate of the strip 2 can be varied to a desired value, when the material and construction of the drum 1 is constant, by adjusting the temperature and flow rate of the cooling water. The final temperature of the strip 2 after water cool is adjusted to a desired value by changing the temperature and flow rate of cooling water and winding angle of the strip to the drum when the material and construction of the drum is unchanged. Such process enables the strip 2 to be cooled to a desired temperature at a cooling rate greater than 100 deg.C/sec which is heretofore unfeasible. The process further eliminates the need of reheating treatment after rapid cooling. The cost of installation and operation is minor.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of ridging at the surface of a cold rolled silicon steel sheet at the time of subsequent cold rolling by exerting hot rolling by heating a continuously cast slab in a specific temp.-rise pattern defined by the relationship with the casting temp. of a continuously cast slab at the time of hot-rolling a continuously cast slab as a stock for a silicon steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:At the time of heating, prior to hot rolling, a continuously cast slab as a stock for silicon steel sheet having a composition containing, by weight, >1.7% Si or >2.0% ([Si]+[Al]), the slab is heated and hot-rolled in a specific temp.-rise pattern in which, when t deg.C means the temp. difference between casting temp. and solidification temp. at the time of producing the continuously cast slab, the average heating rate V1 deg.C/min of the slab in a temp. region where the surface temp. of the continuously cast slab is =T deg.C, in the relation with the temp. T deg.C defined by T=900+10(t-5), satisfy V1=0.2t+2.4 and V2=0.02t+1.8. Then the resulting hot rolled plate is subjected to final cold rolling so as to be formed into a silicon steel sheet. By this method, the occurrence of ridging defect at the surface of the silicon steel sheet can be effectively prevented.
