When the calibration function is executed, the pot 12 with nothing inside is heated with a power less or equal to a predetermined power, and the pot-specific data is calculated based on the detection values of the contact-type temperature detection means 13 and the infrared detection means 14 obtained at a predetermined time during the execution of the calibration function.

      SOLUTION: An infrared sensor 1 directly receives infrared ray emitted from a side surface of a heating object 3 and outputs a temperature signal proportional to the amount of infrared ray. A temperature detection means 6 converts the temperature signal from the sensor 1 to temperature information. A control means 8 acquires temperature information detected by the detection means 6, and calculates a temperature reduction based on this temperature information and the previous temperature information stored in a storage means 9. The control means 8 further determines the occurrence of empty boiling when the calculated temperature rise exceeds a preset threshold (upper limit value), and controls an inverter 5 to reduce the current carried to an induction heating coil 2 or stop the supply of current.
