摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent optical fiber from cracking optical fiber when grinding is performed, by causing a micro-protrusion from the end face of a ferrule, and covering perfectly the protruding part of the optical fiber adhered fast to the ferrule with an adhesive. CONSTITUTION:Element wire 20 of a polarized surface storing optical fiber having a stress giving part is adhered fast to inside of a ferrule 22 with adhesives 23 of epoxy type so that the tip of element wire 20 protrudes from the ferrule 22. At this time, the adhesives remaining at the adhering end face A shall preferably be minimized. Then the periphery of the element wire 20 at a part near the end face of ferrule 22 using an acute fiber cutter 24 made of hard material, and pull cut is made in the B direction. Then adhesives 25 are applied to the end face part of the ferrule 22 so that the protruding part of the element wire 20 is covered perfectly with the adhesives. At this time, the thickness of the adhesives shall range 0.1-0.3mm. After this end face processing, grinding shall be made in conventional process.

摘要： PURPOSE:To allow the easy absorption of the positional error in an axial direction at the time of fitting in the case of use of a ferrule as a plug-in optical connector by butting the front end of a sleeve holder against the flange part of the ferrule and pushing the ferrule deeper than the initial position against the energizing force of a spring. CONSTITUTION:The sleeve holder 6 is fitted freely slidably into a ferrule holding part 52 and is formed insertable to a plug housing 2 side from a stepped aperture 51. The pushing of the sleeve holder 6 deeper than the initial ferrule position against the energizing force of the spring 3 is, therefore, possible. The fitting error in the axial direction is thus easily absorbed when the ferrule is used as the plug-in optical connector. The setting of the final fitting position in the state that the ferrule 1 is intruded into the slit sleeve 5 to the max. extent is possible. The fitting error in the axial direction is easily absorbed in this way.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in extinction ratio by forming a groove as a route for air venting which communicates the part near the inlet of a fiber insertion hole to the outside to the joint part between a flange part and a fitting part. CONSTITUTION:A ferrule 1 consists of the fitting part 2 for fixing an optical fiber to the center and the flange part 3 for holding the coated optical fiber and the groove 5 is inscribed on the outside periphery at one end of the fitting part 2. An adhesive agent is packed into a through-hole 8 when the adhesive agent is dropped to the end face of the flange part 3 in order to fix the coated optical fiber to the ferrule 1. The air near the inlet of the fiber insertion hole 4 in the through-hole 8 is then discharged through the groove 5 to the outside. The remaining of bubbles in the through-hole 8 is, therefore, obviated and the adhesive agent is uniformly distributed into the through-hole 8. The adhesive agent is packed into the fiber insertion hole 4 as well by vacuum suction from the front end of the fitting part 2. The coated optical fiber is thereafter inserted into the ferrule 1 and is heated to cure the adhesive agent. The extinction ratio is improved in this way.

Therefore, even when the ferrules 2-1 and 2-2 are attached and detached repeatedly, a filter film 4-1 (4-2) formed on the polished end surface of an optical fiber 1 never break, and the dielectric multilayered film formed on the end surface of one optical fiber with the wavelength characteristics of the filter is made to operate as a reflection preventive film, thereby easily judging the characteristics of the filter. Consequently, the optical fiber is formed as designed at high yield.
