    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat fluorescent lamp which provides better luminous efficiency by using sufficient discharge electric field, and to provide a liquid crystal display device of better display brightness and display performance by using the flat fluorescent lamp.
      SOLUTION: The flat fluorescent lamp comprises a first substrate having at least one of first cavity, a second substrate having at least one of second cavity, discharge gas, an electrode set, a dielectric layer, and a fluorescent material. The first substrate and the second substrate are connected facing each other so that a discharge space is formed between the first cavity and the second cavity. The discharge gas, the fluorescent material, and the electrode set are all placed in the discharge space. The electrode set is put between the first and second cavities so that almost all of discharge electric field of the discharge space formed from insides of both cavities is distributed between the electrodes. The liquid crystal display device using this flat fluorescent lamp is also proposed.
